Omar Figueroa, a prominent local attorney specializing in cannabis law, posted this today (meme included):

"I sat in the San Mateo Superior Court in Redwood City yesterday afternoon and saw numerous defendants ordered released after their felony possession for sale of marijuana cases were dismissed or reduced to misdemeanors, thanks to Proposition 64.

One particularly memorable defendant was an elderly African-American gentleman who appeared in custody; he was charged with felony possession for sale and apparently had been sitting in jail for months unable to bail out. Thanks to Proposition 64, the case was dismissed, since the 11359 charge was now a misdemeanor and he had already served the maximum sentence of six months. Thanks to Creator!

If Dragonfly De La Luz (Sativa Chronnoisseur), Letitia Pepper, and like-minded reactionaries had had their way, these defendants would still be in chains."

One problem I see isn't that people won't come to there senses after it sinks in . They will. But because this was a vote of the people it will take an other vote of the people take changes. First they must agree on how it would be changed , then someones going to have to pony up a million bucks to get it on the ballet. The people won't have rich backers like the authors of this ballot did to get it done being Mom and Pop growers. Volunteer signature drives have already been tried ( CCHI) , it's going to take money and a lot of work to enact change. Would have been so much easier to get it right in the first place! The rich backers of this new law played on peoples wanting legalization to set themselves up . Just makes me sick to see people tricked so easy.

Yeah I agree with you it was going to go on ballot in Michigan but didn't get enough signatures in time anyways I read the bill It would only allow 3 companies to grow and sell from Colorado. Keep the rich rich and the poor poor.

For all who have paid the price... didn`t we deserve better from a legalization law? I`m betting after all this sinks in we decide to continue the fight for passing the CCHI or a bill that well reflects the freedoms included in the proposed law. I know many will keep Jack Herer`s ideas for real freedom of cannabis rights alive. Lets let them know there`s a better and even way to administer law than to over regulate and over tax the people in the name of legalization!

Better? How? Who's gonna do it? CCHI, seriously?

Here's the deal--WE, we growers and consumers of cannabis, cannot get along. Period. We disagree, we infight, we implode. Then, someone else comes in and takes over our sandbox. No more room for bitching about that now. Why? Because, not a one of "us" could put down our righteous outrage and indignation for one second to simply compromise with each other.

And THAT is yet another one of the reasons why I voted for 64. Because We the People cannot change the legislation that we got under MCRSA.

The section I wanna change first? Smoking in public.

Starting to think seriously, Who really gives a fuck anymore. just be lucky you can grow period. Right ??
We have lived in a world which has been ruled by kings and queens, and presidents.
Back then you get out of line they would just kill you.
Today they throw you in jail perhaps kill you depending on the severity.
What makes me sick is I bet over 70 percent of growers never grew when it was illegal, and just knew a dealer life was good , you get high and party. And erase the troubles you had the past week.. and this was just what ?? few years back ???..

I am starting to sense people putting marijuana as top priority in there life, and i think holy fuck how pathetic is that .
If MJ is the most important thing in your life then its to late for you

It shouldn't be there is allot more to life then this fucking plant. Get out of your bubble once in while :) Really
We do not have freedom, we do not live in a democracy.

Moral of the story is what difference does it really truly make

that is the thing you know what grow your legal limit and live on .
Thinking your going to be the next comercial crop duster think again.
For one chances are you will never come up with the money to play in this game its become a BIG BOY GAME
with what 100 billion dollar industry ?in the black market and what 10 Billion in the green market ..

Big corporations will take control or the ones with millions of up front dollars
So again it comes to TAX money and with corporations running the game the Gov will indeed have control ( like they will always have )

This is where its really leading and your all blind if you think it isn't.

Everyone living the dream that there going to start up some big commercial pot business is a fucking pipe dream.

Get over it should you be allowed to smoke in a public place ??? No you should not shit i see signs all over no smoking 10 meters from any business.
Should you be allowed to smoke a joint with a infant in a car ??? Nope you shouldn't

People compare mj like liquor well for one there not even close
Shit a innocent person can get high just by standing around someone smoking weed
Can you do that with booze

And again why should someone be walking around with more then a oz in there pocket

You do not think its kind of odd walking around with 1/2 pound or eight 1 oz baggies in your pocket ??

Yes officer its personal smoke lol WTF

All the people crying is the ones drug dealing and using the legal aspect to roam around untouched

I'm not to sure what all you stoners are thinking, but we got legal weed here now. I'm not to happy about it but fuck it lets make the best of it I guess. Where do we go from here? I can't imagine seeing our grassroots industry getting shit out by the corporates. So now what u people think is going to happen to us? All I know is what happens in the next 2 years will likely dictate the next 20. Anyhow let's hear some opinions
Move to a less progressive state. Here in WA its taken years for the law makers to realize they didnt have everyone who smokes, smoking recreational. The laws are tightening and squashing the legal ability to grow medicinaly. Your state will surely use us and other legal states as a template. Where as we had years to slowly transition on a SLOW learning curve i expect your state to swiftly squash you out.

Get serious, get focused, and above all get growing, that's what. The handcuffs are off, we can't get charged with a felony for cultivation anymore, so take advantage of it. We all have a little over a year to get everything all lined up and ready before the state starts to issue permits to do whatever you want. Sitting by the sidelines will ensure a corporate takeover, so don't just sit around and complain, get to work.
I worry that when they see the money they dont make (total smokers vs rec smokers) they may find a way to prosecute. Here in WA they were more than happy with profits year 1. Now there wiser, understanding many still go elswhere for their smoke. I expect it wont be long till medical cardholders feel a money motivated police presence. Also consider the legal ramifications may not come in the form of cultivation charges, but more frightfull charges of Tax evasion ect.

Cause you shouldn't be able to smoke that close to doors either. We don't need kids thinking pot is cool like they do when they see a beer commercial with beach bodies playing volley ball having the time of their lives. We need to raise above, and not let our motto be, "well it's ok in this situation." (not a dig at you Dr, just my perspective)

Ive had wealthy family members offer me a life of corporate stomp on whomevers throat to get ahead and be successful lifestyle and at an early age it repulsed me. I do realize that maybe some early trauma in life led me to cannabis more of an escape from my "situation" back then more than anything. I break out of my "i dont wanna go outside and talk to any potential "misdirected hostility" type personalities, and made me super social and creative so i embraced cannabis in my early 20's and never looked back, Ive used it as a pain reliever, nerve damage symptom remedy, sleep aid, sex aid, eating aid that's all i can recall at the moment so if that's "having cannabis as #1 in my life" then yeah man i'm that kind of loser i guess. I really dont find working myself into a lifetime of paying bills(which is what america is today anyway most places imho) a great way to enjoy life man. If i do die i wanna die with as many healthy fucken plants carrying my legacy as possible. I have yet to ever have a bad mood from my garden visits! Boy is seamaiden right about infighting and greed being pervasive in cannabis, I can only imagine the shit you guys must see over there.

Well you can look at it this way. You are all there day 1. If you don't want to get left behind get in the game NOW. If you wait 6 months you can kiss your chances goodbye unless you have some deep pockets (not to say you aren't gonna need them right now). It will get to a point where you reach a cap and no new licenses will be had (hell just buy 1 and then sell it). Right or wrong I'm not a Cali native so I cant comment on the rights or wrongs or how it will affect you all but it happened. It's not going to turn back. Time to get on the ball and decide if you want to work in someones grow or you want people working in your grow.

What about accountability? How do you not pay tax, and also allow anyone to grow and maintain accountability?

Screaming the government is at fault is not a way to look at this. Instead how do you let masses of individuals be held responisble for the publics safety that any product is as advertised?

Its not about any 1 person it is about the safety of the public as a whole. The people that want to continue on will, the ones that want to fight and remain closed minded because of thier ego's will be left behind as they should be.

I feel that alot of what is said about our market is true, although the cities, counties, and state are so far away from knowing how to implement any of the licensing/permitting for any cultivation/ distribution.
I went to a local city today that just voted to permit dispensaries and commercial cultivation. They have no clue what to do, or how to do it. They literally told me they know nothing except that they are allowing the illegal clubs to stay open because they pay their fines, $7000/wk. Multiply that by the 10-15 clubs in that city and it really makes sense why they are dragging their feet. I don't think we are going to get taken over quite yet

Well if the 1% and the Government think they can take over the market they are going to be surprised! To many people who have know how out there just waiting to flood the market with free weed . They won't be able to make any money and there attempt to control the market will fail.
