Thanks for volunteering to write an article on spider mites. That's the great part of this site... You can help others out all at the great price of $0.

Or you can find a pay site and demand they drop all the information at your feet because search bars are hard.

Looking forward to your article and thank you for contributing.
Good timing!:)

There are spider mite articles on this site? Well, I looked for articles, but all I found was news articles. I'm curious as to why nobody has been referred to the plenty of articles. Where are they? If I could read articles about growing instead of wading through thousands of posts, that would be great.

I look forward to reading your article. 🍻 🥂 😎

There are articles, yes. They are not here, as has now been acknowledged. Are there any links offered, or is discussing the same problem every single day just the way it's done? Guess I'm a negative nancy because I expect more. I give more too, so it all works out. If nothing else, I've succeeded in convincing the management that an article on spider mites would be a good idea! Thanks all :)

Hey bud, I get what you are saying, but the way forums work are a little more dynamic. Those who are really interested in getting to understand a problem will research the forums, listen to many other people, then draw to their own conclusions what may best work for them. Think of it as a library. Many books, many opinions, not all right, not all wrong. Just gather all the knowledge of others and try them out. There is no "question/answer" set up here. There are no perfectly factual answers that ALL can go to to get what they need like medical information or law can logically do. It is more of a collective and I understand it can seem very chaotic but the wealth of other information (conflicting or otherwise) will expand your knowledge more than "ask a question, point directly to definitive answer". Please understand I am not trying to school you at all. I understand everyone's point of view here, but there has to be some common ground or people get divided and split. Honestly anyone who contributes, ignorant or not, all help to achieve the right conclusions. Ignorants will eventually become less ignorant as time goes by and when proved to be incorrect most of the time. I know I did when I started in the late 80's.

Now back to SF.

Well said. I always say there is not one answer or solution that fits the bill for all. To many variables and each has its own unique answer.

Hello Spider Farmer - I was wondering about your Wattage to Driver ability.

You are claiming your SF2000 - have 2000 watts of output using an XLG-240-H-48 as the accompanying Meanwell Driver.

However, doesn't the 240 in the serial number mean your output can only max out at 240W?

I could be completely misunderstanding things, but I am pretty sure based on the Meanwell website (I was looking at previously using their drivers for a different project) it only has a maximum of 240W Constant Power

I believe the same thing would be true with your other models, as far as what you are advertising to new growers not being COMPLETELY truthful. Don't get me wrong, your product looks great and is around the right price, but it looks like most of the other Ebay sellers list their watts properly, as to not be deceptive.

I also wanted to know if you sell lights with only the Meanwell XLG driver - do you happen to offer the meanwell-HLG model (where there is a constant current) or are possibly looking at that for your lights in the future?

Thanks so much.

Hi, for the actul wattage, we have stated it online, hope this can help you, sure if you have any questions, plz kindly let us know. we will try our best to explain it. many thanks

Hmm. The claim of being a 1000 watt light was not made by Spider Farmer. The SF-2000 was never claimed to be the equivalent of 2000W HID. The post above specifically shows that the SF-2000 is claimed (again, not by Spider Farmer) to replace a 500W HID. Spider Farmer claims that the light can veg a 3'X4' area. This is true. Spider Farmer claims that the SF-2000 can flower a 2'X4' area- which is also true. I don't know how or why various snippets of 'info' have been strung together to create an impression that is not in agreement with known facts. I'm saying it nicely.

I've only been here a short time, but I'm quite disappointed. The forums are clogged up with newbies asking ridiculous questions, people promoting specific agendas, while those of us that are asking very good and urgent questions are lost in the noise. Meanwhile, the issue of spider mites is discussed daily in thread after thread after thread. Isn't there an article that could be referred to? Why not? Is the problem too uncommon to deserve an article? I've asked questions about light levels, questions about kush, tried to buy seeds through the site, and tried to learn more about the nutrients I use- with disappointing results. I'm a team player. I like to ask questions in class. I like to participate, help others, and ask for help when I need it. This team is so big the good players are lost in the noise, and anybody that can (or can't) type is allowed on the team. Even a 5 dollar paywall could reduce the 'interference'. I don't see that sticking it out will benefit me. I'm going to try a forum that has resources besides 'lore', starting with Jorge Cervantes forum. I know the schools are closed, but do ALL the kids have to come here? I need better, sorry.
Thank you so much for your explanation, you are so nice. ^-^

well I will say these guys dont run away............... not everything in life works for all...
so some people will love these lights ...>> some will Hate them...>>> it's Life..... But this guys is still here talking to you all so it's a plus....

Unfortunately I brought my sf1000 prior to this new release model having external dimmer switch but these units have dimmer built into the meanwell driver, anyways it comes out factory at 95w. Put it on my watt meter and up it to 105w think they blank out at 110-115w. I’ve left it at 105w for all stages.
My lights fixed at hyest height & I move the plant up/down to suite and find that sweet spot.
seeding was around 30
Veg at 20
Flowering (now) main colas are at 8-10

but all in all pretty darn happy with this sf1000 it replaced my viparspectra v600, I was sus at first if it was going to replace a 600w led with a 100w led had me scratching my head, however the plants took to the light like white on rice. They loved it good colour healthy vibrant plants. 18/6 for 6-7weeks then 12/12 to force flowering for 7weeks now it’s at 10/14 giving a longer downtime for trichome production.
ive got about 3-4 days left now before harvest, probably have the weekend as final 48hrs dark time, harvest Sunday night.

Bonus is my viparspectra now doubles as a reptile lamp.
Photos are special kush & northern lights
NL pulled 222grams wet probably end up with 2-3oz is the plant on the right, kush is left back.
Still have special kush going but should yield close to 250-300gram or about 3oz cured.
Not too bad for my 2nd grow or 1st grow under the sf1000.
spider farmer is good product 🤷🏻‍♂️ Why I didn’t make the change sooner. As these sf run a hell of a lot cooler then Viparspectra led did. At least 5 degree. that’s great for us au 🇦🇺 Growers in our hot climate...

Thank you so much for choosing Spider Farmer, hope them can help you have a great harvest 🥳

Currently own a SF-2000 , getting the SF-4000 for my 5x5 soon. These are some sick LED’s @SpiderFarmerLED ! So much power and not lying about the spectrum like most! A++
That is cool, could you plz kindly share some pictures about your plants with our lights? many thanks, cannot wait lol

Yes, we are an independent person lol

Well just wanted to update everyone on the status of this fixture. I’ve been relating my concerns to the manufacturer and they seem incapable of acknowledging the heat issues I’ve encountered. I just cannot swap this unit out in place of my HLG quantum fixture due to the fact there is a 20 degree increase in heatsink and driver temps which will raise the ambient and leaf temps of my grow and wreak havoc on my VPD. If you are going to build a setup around the excess heat this puts off you’ll be fine. However you can’t just swap this out into an existing grow and hope it works. You’ll have issues with heat and your quality will suffer. So I’m going to have to retract my recommendation in previous posts until this is addressed. For not much more money you can get a fixture that is proven and puts off next to no heat. And for that alone I’d have to recommend HLG over spider farm.

This is sad as I had high hopes for this light fixture and everything leading up to firing it up was positive. Now that I’ve had a chance to test things out and speak with the manufacturer I’m disappointed with the outcome. My apologies to the community. But make no mistake I will always step up and acknowledge I was wrong if I am in fact wrong and this is one such case.

I agree. My Meanwell driver for my timber cobs puts off next to no heat compared to my SF and Kingbrite.

Thinking of upsizing to a 5'x5' tent next run would 2 SF2000 even cover that? Seems like a real stretch, that Diablo is looking better all the time IF I had a grand+ burning a hole in my pocket unfortunately not the case.

new hlg driver new heat sink 1cm black and the light are ok

Absolutely. If you wanted to modify this with those it would be top shelf no doubt. But with the added cost of obtaining those parts that have to be taken into consideration I just have no choice but to default to HLG. If they fixed those from the factory and kept prices where they are they’d put a lot of other manufacturers out of business.

Ahh well. I was hoping he’d take the info and run with it. Hell I even offered to do the mods and report my findings but was rebuttled with “our engineers say that’s within operating spec so it should be fine”. Sure I get that it’s within spec but it’s not within a reasonable range given constrained grow spaces and the limitations that has on cooling.

IMO that’s a stretch. I also have a 5x5 tent and I’m running a FGI 680 4x4 footprint commercial quantum light. It pulls 690w from the wall and has the mixed spectrum same as spider farmers lights. They do use better drivers tho (x2) so there’s not much in the way of excess heat. I have a separate dimmer installed so I can turn the far reds, warm white and cool white lights up or down. Otherwise I ran these full bore for over a year without any heat issues.

In essence you just want more wattage for that space. You’d need 3 spider farmer 2000s to match the output and at that price you might as well go with a commercial fixture and not deal with the heat.
