Another thing you can do is put a paper bag over the pollinated stem and staple it closed near the stalk, then leave the branch in there for a few days. Thats actually the proper way to go about it. I just decided to try something different.

I have heard of mixing it with flower to use less and get more coverage. Also a paper with the mix then pinch the end and shake. No idea how much merit these things have.

I leave the breeding to the experienced folk who can pick from hundreds of plants each round at least. Although I do see how crossing a few plants with one we like could be enjoyable. I have not personally got the urge. like you said i am full with trying to grow the best plant from a new seed i can. And then the next one. :-)

A room update pic. Still super uneven and.. whatever... lol whatever... Riding this one out lol. Some of the small ones havent even started to flower yet. One of the garlic breaths is an absolute monster, curious to see how it develops.

The wife an I went for a walk in the woods this morning poking around for chantrelles and found this really cool spot where there was no salal or undergrowth, just moss. Really cool spot to stop and get blissed out on a big fatty.

I think if youre starting with strong genetics, making F1' is fine for making a reliable, albeit slightly variable seed stash without actually calling it true breeding lol. But from what ive read, once you go past F2 you need large numbers just to find the patterns youre looking for. You get a lot of genetic variability at that point.

I cant wait to see what some of the better legal nurseries start to pump out in the next 5-10 yrs. Its gonna go off the charts in terms of breeding potential now that its been embraced by academics lol.

Agree with this. To me, breeding is about improvement. If you're making crosses then you're just making crosses (which is where I see myself for the foreseeable future...once I start even with that). Only once you go past F1 does it really feel like breeding to me...because that's when you're really selecting on a plant to plant level.

I guess I could see being really super careful about your F1 crosses and calling that breeding and whatever, that's fine, but I think of it as an interesting cross, not a bred, new strain.

I mean people can call themselves whatever they want obviously. Just my impression.

But guys like Steve Dale or even Kevin Jodry are changing the game slowly but surely with their insanely high volume sifts and decades of experience being unleashed on the legal market. I think in the next 5 years we will see cannabis genetics take a few very big leaps. Hopefully it makes it down to us peasants lol... I know Steve is no big fan of Canadas legal industry.

Steve is one of the good ones, glad I was growing back in the SOL years, ran most of his gear, still running a cut I got right from him in the later 90's.

Indeed. Im half convinced that he was almost single handedly responsible for the reputation of BC bud back in those days. My first ever taste of his gear was in BC in 1999, it was shishkaberry and it blew my socks off. It was in such a different league than anything else id ever smoked before. Then i grew it and Sweettooth, my buddies had LUI going, so many great strains came form that guy that were true breeds. We really lost a huge assest when he went to Switzerland. But im so stoked that he is back in the game down in Columbia and seems to be really kicking some ass. Now if we could only import his genetics into this "legal" market somehow lol...

Boy 10 grams of high grade honey oil doesnt look like much in the little pyrex bowl lol... The lighter the color and greater the clarity, the less it looks like is there. This stuff is being decarb'd and going into a batch of capsules. I havent smoked this stuff in years. @Kanzeon i know you like to dab though, i need to make a point to stop by next time im in town. Im so rarely over there and always in a hurry to get back for one reason or another..

He also did the sweet pink grapefruit if I remember , that was before soma was calling his nydiesel a " pink grapefruit " aroma ...
He was definitely a star back in the day , I grew a lot of sweet tooth , that one was super popular , I remember a lot of great plants...
