I can definitely see the growth comparing pics taken a week apart.

Day 13 veg.

Must say im pretty happy with this grow so far. Plants are looking healthy and growing a bit differently than im used to. Not gaining nearly as much height, but still bushing out nicely. Im very excited to see how flower goes.

Have I mentioned how hard these droop in the dark?🤣

I took this pic a few mins ago while i was firing up the sulphur burner. The first time i saw them do this it really freaked me out, not gonna lie. But literally as soon as the lights come on, they perk right up. Its really wild. I have to assume its related to the nature of the way these plants rely on the soil biology for their eats, shuttling water and sugars to the roots in exchange for food.

Do hydro plants not do that?

Mine didnt.. Not to this extent anyway.
My theory... cause we always know Aqua has a theory about everything. The difference in o2... hydro and coco have amazing air exchange and holding capacity. During the calvin cycle the plants switch from photosynthesis to respiration where they use o2 and sugars produced by photosynthesis to make energy for growth. The increased levels of respiration at night means they use more o2. We can see this as plants uptake o2 in large amounts at night and give off co2 quite the opposite of during photosynthesis where the opposite it true. I think this is why we see the largest growth in thw first few hrs of the day and over night.

This is Aqua's theory and in no way is claimed as fact. So in essence we see some droop and transpiration slows a lot at night and even more as the o2 is depleted from respiration increase

Plants perform respiration day and night. They perform the calvin cycle more during the day than night. Its referred to as the dark cycle because the reaction is light independent, not because it happens in the dark.

Whatever the case.. They're up now lol.

And not sure if this is the best idea.. But i figured ill keep my grain spawn jars in the grow shed header house since its not being used at the moment. Temp stays consistently around 23-25 celcius. And ive got a single t5 light set to come on for 8 hrs a day, around 3 feet over the jars. Not sure that it matters, but i read that they will colonize faster with a wee bit of light for 8-12 hrs a day.

Next time.. Ill put a bit more grain in the jars lol.

For all intents and purposes, proterra is the same as promix, it just has less bugs in it.
And it does hold nutrients for a while yes, i stagger my feedings with plain water feeds too.
Big big appreciate you. I saw you say pro terra the other day and just heard more about promix... I’ll try out the proterra! Do you cook it at all? And if so what’s your soil cook method?

What was the plant matter/oil ratio you used making these? My pops would probably love something like this for bed time if I find the right strain for him

I used a high thc hash oil. 12 grams per cup of MCT oil and a tbsp of sunflower lecithin gives me roughly 35mg capsules.
I havent made them with plant matter in forever.

I dont cook it. I didnt feel the need to since im also supplementing feeding with Earth juice. The actual amount of dry organic nutrients i mixed in was relatively small. If i was doing a water only grow with heavily ammended soil id probably let it sit for a few days up to maybe a couple weeks after mixing before i planted into it. But i dont really think extended "cooks" are all that necessary. Get it wet, give it a little time for bacterial and fungal colonies to establish and start breaking down some food so your plant has something to eat when you plant it.
