it was a water heater timer, those never failed on me before but now I don't trust em....and I don't like digital plug in ones either, the mechanical ones are ok...a controller is really the best option

the girls will be fine, but hit hard for sure on a few, if it was all I had goin' I'd be stressed about it

Lurkin along soakin in all the dif ideas.
As far as venting goes. I have done a ton of reading on it.
IMO Each light should have it's own intake.
I would think 4inch coming into each light.
Then above the center light would go the exhaust fan with a junctoin box.
The ehhaust should be 12inch so it can pull enough air through all the 4in leads.
Then all the 4in hose's attatch to the juctoin box.
The center light will have a shorter distance to the junctoin box.
But will even out because the intake hose will be longer then the rest.
If money aloud for it A air chiller with a good water chiller setup to it.
Would allow you to just leave the intake of each tube open.
Then with the chiller on the exhaust. You would not need to use the outside air at all.
great for closed room. Just some idears.
 
Great post. I guess the PIA is suspending the "octopus" while taking up as little space as possible.

multiple vegging netbaskets in a single tub, as the picture shows, is a recipie for tangled roots. this will cause ripping and tearing when you move them to transplant, unless you plan on vegging for only a short time.
 
If you can make equal lengths for each light, that seems like it would work out fine. If not, some will pull more air than others but at 40f, it won't matter much :) The air will take the path of least resistance.

I have 3 of those ice boxes and tested them out for a few hours. In my case, it sucked all the humidity out which I needed since it was a veg room. It does blow cold air but it makes your chiller work pretty hard. And lots of heat from the chiller so that has to be in another room. You need a HUGE chiller or it's not very effective. It's supposed to be more efficient than A/C but there are more things that can go wrong. Fan, chiller, water pump, leaks, condensation on the lines...and so on. Great idea though and i'll do another test on it at some point.

I even thought about just having one of my cool tubes with the icebox. In a 5 light setup, I could icebox the middle light and add a little cold air at the same time. The other 4 lights will remain as is with the ducting. Lots of possibilities! Gives me a headache sometimes lol!
 
one thing with cooltubes, is if you use too strong of a fan to suck, the cooltubes will actually lift and move because they are soo light weight. Ridged ducting with a good amount of air will cool your room enough. Remember if the roots are 68* then the air can be 82ish. I use a 8in max fan pushin and a 6in CAP brand pulling through 4000w vertical cooltubes with tons of bends and turns. ill grab a couple pics for some ideas.

please do post pics of that ducting if you will, vertical is new to me, let me loose on a horizontal room no problemo! I thought about the fact they may move around but a simple hood yoyo attached to tub reverse of normal should keep it tightly in place I think...rigid duct would be best but I think only really feasable with stacked stationary tubes

I like this idea but I will be using 6 inch ducting in and the air in will be 30 to 50 degrees f during this grow. so on bottom splitting the 6" into 5 six inch ports for in and the same above for out....my holes in and out are fixed sizes already at 6 inches and I can't make new holes in the area. the in and out are both at ground level also so this has to be considered when designing also

more input on the airflow design is welcome
 
I don't have any pics without girls in the room for you to see clearly, but here's one that might give you an idea of a four tube setup. Air enters through ceiling and exits through ceiling. One single Canfan Max 8" fan pushing.

This pic was about 10 days ago before I put up a 100 pack of yo-yos. Still wasn't enough! Definitely gonna go the cage route. I ended up breaking so many buds off trying to attach those yo-yos. Mostly from bumping into branches since it's so crowded in there.

lol thanks bud. I'm looking to reduce the veg times and try my hand at hydro. My girls are only big cause they vegged for 4 months! I love all the vert setups so i'll run this setup till I get bored and will try something else. Double stacking is what i'd like to try but that has to wait :)

Here's a two tube, 2k setup. Really simple setup and easy to cool. 8x7.5 room. I managed 2 per light. That was only my second run in the room and my first run with trees. Some tweaks here and there + co2, I think It could do 3 per light with 4 girls...especially if hydro does what it's suppose to.

Hope you don't mind that I flood your thread! This is the girl that i'm gonna be running in my first hydro setup, mpb style :)

Thanks bro! I wish I had pics of a little 6 plant from rooted clone run I did with a 175 hps vert bulb! lol Only took up a 1.5x1.5ft. area :)
 
hey guys in stead of getting those quik diconnects i found some boat thu hull's on ebay what yall think...

they have them in 1/2 inch to...
 
That was a gifted clone and I was told it was Matanuska Tundra. The descriptions i've found don't match the plant I was growing lol. No idea what it really is. Very fruity and good smoke. I usually finish at 9 weeks with her but it could easily go 10 if you want a heavier stone. 10 would probably knock me on my ass lol I've grown her a bunch of different ways so hydro seems like next logical step :)

lollipop, take the plunge bro! It's a blast growing this way. Mad props to Heath Robinson for inspiring me with his vertical grows. He's the king of vert!
