i want to LST , im thinking i can top already? it has 6 nodes already just dont want to do it too early and hurt the plant.
Without getting you to post new pics just use a bit of judgement.

Leaves colour and shape good? Any issues on the top new growth? Watering under control? If yes move on or leave it and grow out.

I usually top my photos after 6 nodes because I’m waiting for the larger 3x3 to be free. Others do it at 2 or 4. What do you want out of it? More branches off the main? Smaller tighter?

In your place I would do the 4th or 6th node. Then use some softwire or clips to start bending things down and out.

Look forward to seeing which way you go.

you think i can scrog four plants?
I am not going that route this time. Well to be fair, I used a netting in my 4x4 and didn't like the stress it put on my tent uprights, it caused some bowing I didn't care for. We will be doing some LST and spreading with ties. I also found that I couldn't get around my plants to trim symmetrically and that was with 5 plants in a 4x4. I leaned some hard lessons last grow and my problems started by not topping the plants properly, I readily admit I made huge fundamental mistakes when topping and put my plants into a perm veg state.
My advice probably ends here as I can't claim great success from this point on.

Man, I agree, spread em out but tying branches to the bag is my intention. If I get blessed with colas too heavy for the branches I'll support them another way.

Why do you want to LST? Why do you want to top? I ask not because it's the wrong thing to do, but because I want to see if YOU understand what doing those things does.

I tend to be a bit too descriptive when I explain things to members here but I want them to understand the mechanics of what it is they're doing. This way you can adjust it to your scenario and have the knowledge in regards to what you need to do when an issue comes up.

I actually enjoy this because im learning. So why i want to top? So i can produce more branches and more bud sites. Why to i want to LST? So that i can spread the branches more for better light penetration? Make em more bushier? That would be my explanation but the LST part i truly am at a loss for exactly how it works. I am assuming it would make my plant bushier and since it spreads the branches it gets better light penetration? The LST part like i said is all assumption gumption to see its function. Need to do it to see the mechanics thou speaketh of. My attention , however deficit it may be , is now yours.

When you train the branches to bend away from the center it opens the area up, then the branches return to their natural inclination and grow upward again.

In actuality, you don't really need to LST if you are SCROGging since the screen is, in essence, a giant LST. I LST early in veg because I like to keep the plant canopy as low as I can. If I let it veg naturally some of the barnches will be too mature to bend as much as I want them to.

You realize that by topping and spreading out the bud sites you are reducing the energy that normally goes to the main colas? Your yield should be the same or higher but you won't have those big fat colas usually.

ok so im getting no topping vibez and i would like to keep it low but spread out, instead of more sites and burnt energy i would rather go with bigger denser (more potent?) buds. So i ordered LST clips in a Shmancy ferrari red. Sunday i should be able to start the training? If they arrive on time.

Topping is almost necessary if you are growing in a tent, unless the grower wants a christmass tree type plant and has near unlimited ceiling. So, topping seems more of a necessity when growing indoors.

You know I will have to agree 👍 I top and LST on every photo period plant. But I don't top autoflower's but I will LST the hell out of them.

Not really. Topping slows down veg time. GNick grows without a net and grows amazing xmas trees in his tent.

I top to promote branch growth but because I SCROG I only need to do some light LST to direct the branches to go the way I want so that when it comes time to net them the now mature branches will be set in the way that is conducive to the tabletop canopy I'm looking for.

update , received the LST clips in Shmancy Ferrari Red lol. Ive decided not to top the girls. Im going to save that energy for better denser buds and going to spread her out and try and fill the tent with a scrog. First time doing any of this and the journey is magical. The wifey and I are super stoked and she wants to do the strawberry and watermelon thing with my fox farms lol see how they come along. I dont know if im doing this right so all advice is very welcome. Some here on the farm just wana see wich way i go and if i do it right. Im on a learning path here and its nice. Never had so much control other than my supplier and my money when it comes to bud. This is very relaxing and plan on buying a bigger tent and two lights for the shed out back. Money is the issue but slowly we’ll get things done. Anywho here are some pictures.

ps. This Grow was made possible by the great people @PhlizonGrowLight and of course I want to give The Farm a big thanks for your Febuary giveaway donation. I am planning on buying more @PhlizonGrowLight s but yea thanks again!

Update, i transplanted again , tried to keep the whole soil ball together with 4 hands and extra dirt inside new fabric cloth pots. They are made in china so i dono how porose it is. So i just did it cuz i wanted to prevent root rot inside the plastic ones. Im LST training and its my first time… Tan tan. To be continued. Pictures and a video!

ps: i got gnats or flies in my soil so im mixing 1/4 3% peroxide and 1 cup water distilled RO i guess. And gona spray the beds down with it. Any advice is welcome Thanks for stopping by!

Looking good👍🏻 My only thing is, you should take those clips off the leaf stems and let the plants grow a little more then actually train the plant itself and not the leaves lol.

question: Its my first time so the training part im doing it wrong? i thought its so that the other budding sites within the canopy can access more light and stretch her out low at the same time? or am i trippin…. please gimme some info if im doing it wrong thx!
