Yea but just to say only one product works is missleading because imo you should alternate between avid and floramite or some other effective product, Rollin endough you dont want to be the breeder of a supermite now do you?

Last mite/off-topic post, promise.

My garden is mite free as my advice actually works. No breeding projects here.

I've honestly never let them get out of control when they ever are present on a donated cut. One spray of Avid later and the problem is solved, a follow up spray 3-5 days later guarantees their yet to hatch eggs get a taste of it too.

The problem must be solved completely in veg as not to risk any of the systemic chemicals resting in the final product.

Mites in bloom? Totally fucked IMO.

I'm all ears and all for alternatives, but after watching members of the OMMP struggle to their discontent with the little fuckers using every hydro shop solution, I'm not sold until it's proven (Meaning they don't magically reappear at any date).

I hear that

I see you dismissing an effective means to complete eradication of spider mites as step one. What I don't see is step two, giving an alternative that is proven to work.

Call me the heartless Native American, I'd much rather push buds that are free of pests and mildews/molds than to have someone unknowingly smoke an ecosystem.

Point taken.....I'm short on time but I'll post a response with some healthier alternatives to Avid

We cut our plants back a lot. We have still been battling mites still. Nothing really seems to kill these things. They are still recovering now. I have been busy camping out at my outdoor ommp grow. We we're having an issue with intuders on the property. We just cropped all that. Sorry for the delay. Ill have a more detailed explination in a few days.

I have used the CO2 method, but thats an option I have handy and running anyways...just pump it up to 10k ppm and let it settle, go in clean, clean, clean, otherwise it seems the bastards still cling on, nasty mother's, and after harvest and before each new batch should be cleaned, bleached and hit with CO2..its work when they appear thats for sure....Im opting for a newly built grow space and will do as I have said, prevention is my only true defense from these anymore ....just wish they didnt exist!!!!I'll have my day and so shall you....good luck and keep us all posted!!!

Sorry to hear about the battle with mites.

Fuck crop snatchers! No wonder the silence. I'd want to be prepared for some fools too.

Positive vibes for you and your partner. Don't give up against the Borg.

Cross diggin your thread and up front info. Hope you get those mites in check soon. Look forward to seeing some updates after the chop.
You mentioned that you used kelp as and liquid karma to keep the node spacing tight, how do they do that? Thanks... Socachi

Ascophyllum nodosum is the type of kelp.

It contains auxins and cytokinins, among other goodies.

Ripped from Wiki:

Mode of Action

The ratio of auxin to cytokinin plays an important role in the effect of cytokinin on plant growth. Parenchyma tissue cultured with auxin and without cytokinin have cells that grow large but do not divide. When cytokinin is added along with auxin, the cells both expand and differentiate. However, when the plant cells are cultured with only cytokinin, there is no effect. When cytokinin and auxin are present in equal levels, the parenchyma cells form a callus, or undifferentiated mass of cells. An increase in cytokinin will lead to the growth of shoot buds, while an increase in auxin induces root formation.[2]

Cytokinins are involved in many plant processes, including cell division and shoot and root morphogenesis. In particular, they are known to regulate axillary bud growth as well as affect apical dominance. These effects are a result of the cytokinin to auxin ratio, and termed the direct inhibition hypothesis. This theory states that the auxin, originating in the apical bud, travels down shoots to inhibit axillary bud growth. This promotes shoot growth, and restricts lateral branching. During this process, cytokinin moves from the roots and into the shoots, eventually signaling lateral bud growth. Simple experiments agree with this theory. When the apical bud—the major source of auxin—is removed, the axillary buds are liberated from inhibition. This allows the plant increased lateral growth, making the plant bushier. Applying auxin to the cleaved stem again inhibits lateral dominance.[2]

While cytokinin action in vascular plants is described as pleiotropic, this class of plant hormones specifically induces the transition from apical growth to growth via a three-faced apical cell in moss protonema. This bud induction can be pinpointed to differentiation of a specific single cell, and thus is a very specific effect of cytokinin. [6]

Cytokinins have also been known to slow the aging of plant organs. This process occurs by preventing protein breakdown, activating protein synthesis, and assembling nutrients from nearby tissues.[2] In a study that regulated leaf senescence in tobacco leaves, it was found that wild-type leaves showed yellowing of leaves, while the transgenic leaves remained mostly green. It was hypothesized that cytokinin may affect enzymes that regulate protein sythesis and degradation.[7]

Here is a good write up on application rates of Bushmaster.

Thanks RMCG, but damn how do you know this shit, you must have been growin for a long time and/or have a MS in plant science.
How does liquid karma come into play here?
I'm probably gonna be using H&G, what would be a good addition to their regiment? I'm guessing the kelp & bushmaster. Anything else? Is all kelp alike?

I'm not familiar enough to comment on liquid karma or the H&G lineup.

Bushmaster == AN Kelp.

If Hydro I would foliar spray vs res.

Take heed to the warnings of 'a little goes a long way!'...

Looking good! is that 1/4 hp chiller enough to keep the water temps regulated? just bought 2 of these evo systems and trying to see if ill need 1/4hp or 1/2hp per system. thanks

Things have almost been at a standstill. We have been treating other issues and trying to just keep them healthy. I will not be using advanced nutrients base nutrient again in the under current system. The ph had been fluctuating by a full point in one day. It really has made stabalizing the ph difficult. The plants are all green and perking back up. I'll post some pictures when i get back home later.

do you have any slime on your roots or airstones? algae is a big problem thats often mistreated, stunts the shit out of your plants, might not kill them but the plants just stand still
