Personal Medical Grow in Coco. [Chem D, Grape Romulan, Grapefurit Haze, Casey Jones]

This round I have been experimenting with cal-mag dosing. I did some research and had a rough idea on the what the outcome would be.

The experiment:
Coco has a high capacity for cation exchange (CEC). Basically it means that coco binds to the cations at a high rate. Ca+2 and Mg+2 have a high binding affinity to coco, so when growing in coco a constant steady supply of cal-mag is usually neccessary to prevent coco for stealing calcium and magnesium from the nutes.

This round I wanted to try supercharging the coco with a high dose of calcium and magnesium so the coco is thoroughly charged.

I used 15ml/gal Magi-cal (same as botanicare cal-mag) on the first feeding. After that I didn't use any cal-mag. It has been 3 weeks since the super charge and so far no cal-mag def. I really hated using cal-mag every feed because of the extra nitrogen. I am 18 days in bloom so far without any cal-mag. I think the coco is satisfied with the initial dose of cal-mag and the plants are happy with cal-mag they are receiving from the base nutes.

I couldn't afford canna's base nutes so I switched over to cutting edge. I like that the three part is giving me even more control over the NPK ratio. In my earlier days with coco, 2 part coco a/b was the easiest option. The two part worked great but wasn't cost effective. Cutting edge is literally 3x cheaper, and with little experimenting the ratio's can be dialed is very close to optimal.

Quick Update

I only have one but thank goodness I have it, because it looks nuts and has an amazing smell. I am talking about the LA Cheese, I am only on day 24 but I think this one is gonna stick around. Grape Rom is growing some insane trichomes to the tip of every leaf. All the strains are doing well, they are slowly starting to stand out more and more.

So far no major complications on running a lot of strains off one rezzy. I have been around 1.5 EC the entire time. There are certainly some plants which can take more, especially the OGiesel, which a pistol producing machine.

Quick little update.

The last two pix are of either Rocklock or OGiesel. I dropped the tray of clones and mixed up the labeling. I did my best to seperate but I guess I screwed up. So now I have two plants with the same label but they look different. :icon_spin:Whatever, they both look dank. I just don't know which one is which, soon enough I will know. Oh yeah the buds on this one is pink/purple.

But on a serious note I have learned quite a bit from your thread so thanks 1st of all, and 2nd I guess I can tickle ure balls a little and tell you how awesome everything looks and I cant wait to get some xmas gifts and get a larger setup. But seein that you have all of ure shit straight and quite a few followers that do the same I was wondering if you could throw some advice my way. I dont mean to jack ure thread or go off subject but Im new to this site and think I cant PM until I have a certain amount of post so I guess this is how I have to ask for some assistance. I think my thread is quite boring, there is no drama, no fighting, no bugs, no nute issues. Please don't feel like you are hijacking my thread. I am part of this community and here we all help each other.

My first advice to you would be to start off very easy, and go with the KISS, keep it simple stoner, philosophy. Decide how much time you are going to be putting in the grow and find the medium you are most compatible with.

Synthetics are going to be very easy to use. Lucas formula would be a great start for you, (or H3ad's modified formula). If you want to run a more stuff then Part A/B, roots excelurator, PK 13/14 should grow you some terrific flowers.

I use a boat load of products, and I don't really suggest anyone to use all the stuff I run. Most of the ingredients on my list aren't essential, and they only work if the basic nutrition line up is in tune.
