shit bro - the shipping is $147 for a single hood - have a buddy who has a co-op and he lets me get in on stuff when hes buying it wholesale - so Im gonna hopefully get 2 cobras through him - otherwise Ill get raptors or xxls and those nifty extensions I never heard of or saw before this thread

again - great thread CV

Oh, There must be a mistake man.. I paid like 60 dollars for shipping... Yeah, If it was 150, I would have NEVER done that...lol... That is crazy....

Ill try to find you a link for teh extensions.. They are nice, made of porcelain, and you screw them in where teh bulb goes... It just extends the bulb base out about 4-6 iinches depending on what you want.....

$150 dollars for shipping....HOLY SHIT! For that much you could buy 2 XXXL hoods..lol.. Yeah, That is way too much...My shipping for teh hood and ALOT of other stuff was like $60 some dollars... No where near that much....It came on a Fed Ex truck.....Just liek all of my other packages....

Sounds liek to me, You know that History Channel show, The Ice Road Truckers... Sounds like they are using them to ship you your orders....$150 dollars is NUTTY!
Shit, They sent me a few bags of Earth Worm castings too, and they where 30 pounds each....This was another order, but still, That weighs more than teh hood.. The hood is only like 20 pounds...So Imnot sure what is going on with your case... That is crazy...I'd call them and see whats up...
Good luck though brother!

for oversized packages, parcel companies go by dimensional not actual weight :)

That is what I have heard man.. I have not personally tried teh Adjusta Wings yet, But Im getting to the point where Im about to try them.. Heat is not a problem... I have a big flowering room with A/C etc....Also Stadium style using no hoods is something I plan to try very soon...So practical........ But for right now, Im using all air cooled hoods, and everything is controlled by a day/night temp controller.. Which makes EVERYTHING so much easier... My temps are ALWAYS 68 at night and 75 during the lights on period...I love my Temp Controllers... Pretty cheap and maybe the best tool I have ever bought....Set it and forget it!

Do you use a heater for the night temp control? What kind?

Depends on how big of room but the magnum xxxl 8 in are nice but for larger 8+K rooms i like to amp up the ac and use adjust a wing hoods with a co2 burner.

I can vouch for Radiants sucking ass. I have their heavy as shit, 1k Hoods and they throw ridiculous hot spots. and yes I have a light meter. I have seen light bleaching on my plants and crazy foxtailing. I also use light rail light movers.

I kinda want those cobras now but the Raptors might be much easier and cheaper for me to acquire. I wish we could make a bulk buy on some cobras. Im going to see if my guys sell the cobras....

If you guys want the cobras they are easy to aquire. Just go to www.bwgs.com and look for a store near you.(There is a find local store tool at the yop left of the page, just enter your zipcode) Just march your ass in and tell them you want a cobra or 6 and they can order them for you. You will have to wait a few days for them to come in but when they do just go to the store and pick them up. Most reptuable hydro store with a BWGS account will not charge you shipping if they are placing a big enough order anyway. I know my local hydro store in my area does a great job special ordering stuff for me. And if they don't stock them now I bet they will once they see them.

I use Radiant 6 for my 600's and Radiant 8 for my 1000's. I also have a Daystar! U talk about weight of reflectors. Them XXXl r heavy as fuK! We have 15 Raptors up and they kik ass! Hydrofarm has really nice equipment. I don't use anything else but their gear. No issues ever! Good luck finding what suits ur needs best. Opinions r like assholes, every1 has 1. It really is a preference thing when it comes to picking out ur gear.

hey canna - did you notice the shipping cost - you dont want to buy these online - they go by "freight" only

I like the fact that the cobras center the bulb

I saw this hood running beside an XXL last week and it puts one hell of a foot print compared to the xXXL.That bulb being in the center really makes a big difference. These hoods were selling like hotcakes and will be my next purchase when I get to where I can use a hood like that,Im stuck useing cool tubes due to a hieght problem

Those cobras are huge. Anyone know the weight on them compared to a radiant?

Looks like Radiant 8's are about 28 pounds. Im going to check out the Cobras. They are massive! No more light movers.

Raptors weigh like 50 lbs....

hmmm the 2 600s in an adjustawing sounds awesome - you know they make an adapter that you can run 2 600's off a single 1000 ballast

you could still do one mh and one hps if you were running 2 x 1000 - one as mh and one as hps

can you run the cobras without the glass?

I dont aircool - but Id like that as an option in case I expand

I know a fellow who (was before MT med law got jacked) was runnin 8 1000w ballasts into a flipflop with the sunpulse splitters on the other side. He has 32 verticle 600 watters running 16 per room on 8 ballasts.

Damn, I'm really torn between the adjust a wing or a King Cobra or similar.
If I'm in a 5x5 tent with 6" exhaust and running lights at night with 60F max ambient does anyone think I can get away with no a/c with the adjust a wings? Do they run that much hotter than a sealed hood, even with the same exhaust running?
Decisions, decisions...

The King Cobra with a 6" 400CFM fan running directly from the outside of the tent and vented outside your ambient room would run much much cooler then an adjustawing. The King Cobra by itself is much cooler then a normal fan without venting ...

The adjustawing bro they run much cooler than you think and they throw down so much light it's crazy there the best out there imop and the cobra is made by sunleaves witch imop they Dnt make very quality gear I mean all there other hoods are not verry good I actually bought the smaller ones just the cobras and took them back to get the adjustawings and if your running a dark room they only support like 69lbs witch I think is really pushing it I know I have 2 and the cobra weights 40lbs and the Awing weighs like 10lbs and the light coverage is like a 5x7 area witch is crazy and the fact they run a bare bulb with no glass gives you 15 to 20% more lumens to your plants I'm. Sure either way you honors gonna be nice but I love my awings and Dnt plan on using anything else and there $50 cheaper than the cobras
