I never place my branches, I shove the entire limb under the table and they do the rest. Now, sometimes if I have a branch that grows longer than it’s initial placement, I will stretch it out by pulling it out of the square and allowing it to come up through another hole.
Just so I’m clear on this, nets are never good scrog tops! By nets, I am speaking of stretchy trellis nets. They cannot hold the plant down, and have way too much give to them. They also cannot support the weight.
I was reading your thread and in meantime ordered a scrog net now I see this post so I cancelled it lol.

Thanks!
I would skip the scrog this round if you are a week in. Reason behind that, the stretch period and the table top work together to actually create a scrog. The stretch needs to happen beneath the table.
Thanks for the information, I'll definitely scrog my In house genetics during my next grow👍

I am going to be very honest. I LOVE looking at all your guys hard work on the SCROG set up and the watering resevoirs etc. For "my" personal set up it wouldn't work. But I certainly LOVE learning valuable skills from those wise sages who have been here before! Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

On scrog now for four weeks. Here’s an update. Five by five three plant and four by four one plant.

Following your lead CG. But much slower. Couldn’t tell where I needed to defoliate before the SCROG so only did the lowers.

Once in place and table down I was able to see where I wanted things to go. Harder on my back but rewarding.

Also learned LST makes birds nests under SCROG. 😝 Still trimming away at one or two knots. I tuck the tops every other day or clip. Hope to get her healthy and flipped by next week.

I’ll get there. Just have a cold beer or cider waiting please. It’s all up hill. 🤣

Thanks!

This and a post I can’t find that said you just push the branch under the table and let itself find the light answered a lot of questions and changes everything.

Your control is in the early grooming or lollipoping. Then the table is your LST tool. The stretch is what you grow on and leave to feed the plant. With most being bud sites. (Do you do a quick trim once the table is down to remove new undesirables or is it not necessary due to earlier trimming?)

When do you stop tucking? End of 3rd week flower? This bit me last time but it was a great BBQ.

Well, I've read this thread twice and I can't wait to start. I need to build a table and hopefully will know all the sex soon. Is there a too big size to start scrogg? My first 5 plants are small and tortured and have transitioned outside, the nine in the tent are super happy and vigorous in their living soil and look pretty good in the sex department. Three have been killed and two banished and maybe milked for pollen soon. Also are 3 gallon fabric pots sufficient for a 4 plant run in a 4 x 4 tent or should I up pot? Thanks all, and especially @CannaGranny for this highly educational tutorial. This picture was taken 9 days ago. I think they are twice as tall. Should I top all the other shoots that are catching up to the twice topped tops? Sorry, that's a lot of questions. I'll calm down. Goodnight to all.

Mornin Zen!
Once my table top is dropped I do no more trimming. I may move an end to force it to grow through another hole. After the stretch I will do my first defoil and then again at week three. After that, if I have leaves blocking Bud sites, I just tuck the leafs down.
If you have “undesirables” as soon as you top is the time to get rid of them. I know that’s a bit confusing as I just said I don’t after tabling but as you go through the learning process, you will get to the point that you will instinctively know what has to go before you drop your table.
As soon as you drop your top, other than to move an end of a limb to another hole, you should stop pushing your limbs under and allow the stretch to make placement. I would not hold them in veg stage under your table as you are gonna be hurting for room as it is.
When I first table them I allow veg hours for two days, this is just so she can recover from the lollypopping and then I flip to flower.
I hope all of this is not just plain as mud, I slept in this morning and am not in gear yet. ☺️

Im always excited to see someone discover the scrog method.

Too big? As in the table or amount of plants?

I used three gallon pots for awhile. I have since moved to sevens. I could get by with fives, but they require watering and often. With the sevens I can get a three day period before I have to water again. I also tend to run some fairly large genetics. Usually on pot size, I leave each to his own, as you know what kind of space you have to work with.

My pleasure! Most welcome!

If you have topped twice then I would do no more topping. It’s not necessary that they are all the same height, the table will take care of that for you.
Sorry, that's a lot of questions.
Dont know if ya don’t ask! There will be more questions , so please don’t hesitate to ask!

No need to calm down lol, let’s scrog!

No ma’am. Quite clear. Took a screenshot to review and magnify. 🤣

I see and understand a lot more now. I see backwards to most which helps a lot but can sometimes leave me missing the simple things. To far outside the box. 😝

I was literally lollipoping from on my back and noticed when I pulled a branch down I could see and feel how it would go into a more natural spot. After doing a few, the more I removed the nest of leaves, I also noticed a light shake of the table would assist with this.

I could even see by looking up into the canopy where I could clear more, put branches manually, and what should’ve been removed prior.

Now, as noted, it mostly came together. Just a little late. I’m back where I was last time but only one table. I need to tuck and trim still.

My biggest mistake was too much LST prior to SCROG. It’s made things twice as hard and I had to remove most growth anyway. 🤦

That’s why I wanted to see how you do it. But now I know, or at least know better. Getting there PAL. 😉

Oh, and good afternoon CG!

Started the message then went outside to help. 🤣

Been leaving things logged in too much lately.

Glad to hear brotha cause they say it keeps us young. I damn near shed a tear 😂 when came across the thread. CG threw it down from a to z and I was like stuck in some sort of stoner stupor detention sabbatical. No booze since Easter should help though. Going to stick with ingesting non-flammable fluids only and see how things go 🫠
