Howdy, another recent icmag ex-pat here too.

    I Have Root Aphids....

Merit was the only thing that worked for me. Those S.O.B.'s are a nightmare. Good luck.

    Bare Bulb Light Footprint

The calculation is different with 360° canopy and bare vertical bulb. In that situation 20w/sqft (of vertical canopy, in a circle around the bulb going up the wall or trellis) is the rule of thumb like 50w/sqft is for horiztonal bulbs in a reflector. The floor space is 24sqft so it would be 41...

    Bare Bulb Light Footprint

It's surprising how elusive a clear answer on this is. I've been reading through tons of journals but it can be hard to apply when most journals are using different stuff. Like I'll find two 400's in a 6'x2.5' or stacked 600's in a 5x5' or two 1kw's in a 5x7, but it's like ya well if I had 5'...

    Bare Bulb Light Footprint

What kind of light footprint - how high up the wall - will a 600w vs a 1kw bulb throw at a distance of 2 feet (distance from bulb to wall)? All the info I can find on light foot prints is regarding horizontal reflectors or isn't very specific about vertical. Can anyone who's run a 600w or 1kw...

How Would You Set Up A Rectangular Flowering Room (6'x4')?

The room is 6 feet long and 4 feet wide, 7 foot ceiling over about 42" of it and 6 foot ceiling over the rest. Nice room to use, but the shape and size are less than ideal. Veg is in a separate area under a 400w. Stadium SOG could yield the most I suppose but I'm thinking lower plant numbers...

    Painting Concrete Floor

The room's basically bathroom size, so not large. I just worry about the walls but I suppose tape should protect them. Good tip on the slip resistance, thanks. That's the truth. Painter, carpenter, electrician, design at the least. Awesome! Thanks for those pics. Ok, that's about what I...

    Painting Concrete Floor

Thanks for the good advice. I suppose I should do the water test. It's not what I'd call a damp basement by any means and I'd probably be fine leaving the concrete bare, but having it all painted up nice appeals to me and I think it would help keep things clean. As for grinding, I had read...

    Painting Concrete Floor

I'm thinking about painting the concrete floor in my room but I'm not terribly knowledgeable about what's best for concrete. It's currently not painted or sealed or anything that I know of. Small puddles of water will soak in. I was looking around and found this Zinsser water proof, mold &...

Proper Wire Connectors For Replacement Bulb Socket?

I suppose that was obvious :( I do a fair bit of soldering. That said, heat shrink would put the wires even closer together making an appropriate voltage rating even more important. It looks like it's easier to find ratings on heat shrink tube, though. Quickly looking for some, the first one I...

Proper Wire Connectors For Replacement Bulb Socket?

I'm replacing a bulb socket in a cool tube and having some trouble finding the properly rated crimp connectors. The socket is rated for 600VAC at 1500w with a 5kV pulse start. I see similar looking connectors rated for 600V, but I'm not sure if they're suitable for the 5kV pulse start: Can...

That's cool, though as a user of several SE sites, I don't agree that noobish questions work well on them by and large.

    Run off EC is 3.0-6.0

Had a trimming party last night. Filled up 5 gallons of glass jars, so a pretty decent haul. Haven't weighed it yet but should be well over a lb, and these genes definitely have the potential for more weight. Very heady buzz, very strong. Still needs to cure, but it's already smelling delish...

    Parallel construction

I've mentioned this before in response to threads, but everyone should be very aware that alphabet agencies monitor internet traffic and they also data share with local law enforcement. When you get busted and they claim they got a tip from a confidential informant, that might not actually be...

    Run off EC is 3.0-6.0

She's holding her own, not like I'm doing all the leg work. But there's a lot to learn and showing/talking to someone in person can pass on a lot of basic knowledge quickly. Plus I enjoy playing in the garden and feeling like all those hours reading these forums are put to at least some good...

Going from RO to tap water

I don't believe those filters wouldn't remove any dissolved solids, so you shouldn't have to add any more Cal-Mag than you would to the straight tap water.

    Run off EC is 3.0-6.0

Yes, they were very dry when that pic was taken. We were trying to make 48 hours between waterings and it just wasn't enough. I believe we also had the light at 1kw and they were a bit heat stressed. Put it back down to 600w now and temps are just perfect, and a watering almost lasts 48 hours...

Going from RO to tap water

You could get a filter setup without a RO & DI stage. There are particular carbon filters for removing chloramines. You probably wouldn't want to just use the one filter, though, as I think it would clog or exhaust quickly without a sediment prefilter. But a sediment filter and chloramine filter...

    Run off EC is 3.0-6.0

:( Some hermies popped up. Probably from watering during lights off. Tried to keep ambient light in the adjacent room minimal and use a small green led bulb in the room, but I guess these fem'd chemmy jones are more sensitive than strains I've run before. There wasn't many nanners, but they were...
