I've done the exact same thing with ficus trees to get some bonsai material. In the bonsai world we call that air-rooting. I have a feeling it will work out very well for you. Just keep that soil moist at ALL times. You may have to prune away some growth too, as the new roots may not be able to support the whole plant. Can't wait to see your results.

The garden is moving along nicely. Some of the ladies, especially the mob boss, are really taking off. I did my first FIM and stripped the lowers on one of the Mob Bosses today, others will follow in the next day or so.

FIMing seems to works pretty well for me. I grew some decent bushes with lots of nice tops and minimal larf using this technique early in veg on my last run. More to come. Happy Sunday.

Fuck. Found some spider mites on the NL cross. I'm going medieval on them. I've already doused them with mighty wash and they'll get caps foliar spray tomorrow, and more mighty wash the day after that. I'll keep at it until they are long since forgotten. At least it's pretty early on. Fuck.

that sucks man. i have fucking nightmares:mad: about them fuckers living on my plants. i cannot stress how important it is that you found them now instead of later. try to isolate that plant bro. good luck. i havent tried mighty wash yet but i have tried everything else, including my pepper spray. that and alcohol/water spray has worked the best so far. my veg room is clear, have one or two that got hit in flower .killll them fuckers. end of rant sorry lol 420

No, please, keep ranting. I just went and turned the lights back on and was screaming at the fuckers while I hit the soil of the effected plant one more time. I'm not that worried about it. One of the benefits of a small garden is that these things are easy to contain. It's nothing that being super aggressive won't fix. I used 25 of the 32 oz bottle of mighty wash, and I'll use about that much bennies tomorrow. I've also got an SNS feed in solution that I'm going to use. These fucking mother fuckers don't stand a chance. Bitches. Srsly.

Not much to report today. FIM'd everything I could, these are gonna be some bushy bitches. I think the Spider Mite problem it under control. I could not find any living on the plant. My air graft experiment is going well. . .at least I can only assume that since the plant is still alive.

I've been over watering the plants. . .not in a way that will hurt the plants, but rather washing out the super soil at the bottom of the pot because I've been getting about 15% runoff. I've been feeding about 3 liters every 4 days, and I think I'm going to drop that to a liter every other day. Less water more frequently.

Did some more FIMing this weekend, and hit them with a little (OK a shitload) of mighty wash, and watered them. I've switched my routine to much less water much more frequently. . .a half gallon every other day. I'll definitely need to top feed before flower because I was watering to 15% drainoff.

Overall the ladies are looking good, responding well to the FIMing, and seeming to do well with the super soil. I think they hit a point the other day where the roots hit the super soil. I got a little leaf curl and tip burn, both very mild. Here are some photos.

Not to bad, I think it's from the plant adjust to the super soil. Hope that's the last of it.

No nutes at all in either the cup pot, it had just been transplanted. Just trying to keep it wet. Have no idea what to do next! :eek:

If your intention is to get a cutting once this air clone sprouts roots then perhaps you should have left some green below the cut.
Or are you just trying to shorten the plant?

My advice is that as soon as you see some decent root structure, cut the stem below the cup and plant into the ground. I would trim away at least 50% (if not a bit more) of the greenery up top and let her recover in a low stress environment.

What up JAWS?! The dolphin and shark meet again. I'm trying to shorten the plant, this was a technique I picked up on another thread. I have no idea what I'm doing. I got the steps a, b, and c, then waited a week, but did not get any guidance after that. Doh!

Hmmm, not sure how I can see decent roots without pulling the cone off. Have not done that yet. How long should I wait before I do that? Many thanks.

If so then you have two short plants.
I have yet to make this 'air cloning' work at all.
Did much like you and never got any roots out of maybe five attempts.
