Seamaiden I pay for my Medicare and 98% of my Medical out of My Social Security Account which came out of my pay checks/taxes. Not other`s taxes . If you look at all of my taxes vs. benefits you would see I paid/pay much more out than I will ever get back. That extra does little for anyone but the government employees who sit on there asses an collecting our moneys. If all the withholdings that were taken out of my checks over the years were to have gone into Blue Chip stocks , muni bonds , or even gold holdings I would have 10+ times the size of check for disability/retirement than I do now. Instead it was spent by my Government and I`m dependent on a Government that is ever increasing it`s debits to pay me what it owes in principle ( forget any interest owed). I`ve been ripped off by our Government and so has everyone who ever had earned income. How am I to think about taxes ? I don`t feel I owe any, I feel they owe me! For all of that and when I lost my house to shady bankers and needed help they loaned the banks money , my money! Fuck the Federal Government! Should I pay taxes now for the only medication that helps me to live that I can supply for myself from my own two hands? I`d not only rather go to jail, but I`d rather die than pay taxes or collect taxes on cannabis ! Live Free or Die is not just a saying, it`s what I live by and am willing to die by ! There is little beyond of value that I am willing to fight and die for except my freedom to worship God, My family, and the land and people of America. I would not die for a Government bought out by investors , corporations and their banks , nor would I ask my children or grandchildren.

I believe they stated explicitly that the purpose of legalization was to create jobs and to hurt the blackmarket (i.e. cartels). I believe it was also specifically stated that the laws/new system is to favor small business/entreprenuers and thwart big business. The whole goal is to boost local economies while taking power from the blackmarket (and of course, generate tax revenue).

It shouldn't come as any surprise that big business is rearing it's ugly head and trying and get in on it however they can and manipulate things in their favor. What else is new? But give them a chance/some time to hammer it all out. It is still VERY early in the game, my friends. I'll say it here and now, when the dust settles, it will be in our (the little guys) favor.

The only thing I didn't see coming was the reaction to the March 1st deadline (if you saw that comming, kudos).

I will say one thing; they intentionally waited and watched Colorado/Washington carefully and learned from their mistakes. They were the petri dishes (I'm sure you've all heard that analogy by now). They are not going to make the same mistakes and they WILL crackdown HARD on the blackmarket, so that every bit of marijuana in this state is TAXED! They want as much tax revenue as possible.

And it makes sense, if you were in their position, wouldn't you do the same?

If you have been watching, it's already happening.

Unregulated markets are indeed a part of the problem when it comes to stocks(investments) and over spending is an even greater problem with our Government, regulating goods and production is not the same. We should be free to work for our selves and make what a free market allows us. If we over/ under produce, prices will be the only needed control factor in a free market. Laws tend to make things worse not better more often than not. The idea of a free market is to let the market dictate the chance to earn or lose money . This is based on our actions and efforts not on prohibition of actions as laws create. It is free enterprise that made us a great nation, not regulations and excessive taxes.

As things stand right now our whole economy would collapse if it were not for a black market. They don`t really want to stop it so much as control the lawful market. This gives big investors(corporate investors) an edge without total market failure. Laws would not stop the black market but using fines and fees would allow some control and would be less expensive than total prohibition has. It`s still a form of Prohibition but changes the penalties. A free market stops all prohibition and puts growers both players both big and small in an even playing field. as people and corporations make income they will still owe taxes but not directly and the flow of moneys would be both wider and faster increasing the GNP and providing a more robust economy. What it would not do is fix the problems on Wall Street and the never ending thirst of our Government to spend.

I was just trying to lookout for you, man. If you don't care, I don't. Just saying it's getting like borderline incriminating.

Whatever, don't let me interrupt your econ/poly sci lesson.

I don`t really make much money because most of it goes back into research and development. I could make more doing yard sales. I don`t think I`m much of a target anyway. I`m just trying to make ends meet and half the time I do a poor time of that! The Government has already taken almost everything I have so what would they gain by coming after a disabled old man that has little to nothing? What I do have is bills, they are welcome to take that I guess.

Oh no, not borderline. He's crossed the border with his entire being. That said, I doubt the IRS will be interested in him unless he posts up any harvest numbers. I do see the DEA and some other cats being interested though.

Mr Castle, I had two responses to two of your posts typed up, but then I realized there's actually not a fucking thing I can say that would shift your view *or* your paradigms, so I said fuck it.

Either way, can we stop with the personal politicizing and get back onto the actual subject at hand?

Epitome, shut up. IRS worse than religion.... What is your point in this thread, just talk shit with no facts and insult as many people as possible? Just shut it man, you sound like an ignorant useful idiot. This thread was suppose to be about local bans. Not the federal government and certainly not your view on how religion ranks amongst those. So please, keep your off topic hate to yourself.

One of the positions i signed the other day received twice the needed votes to bring it to a vote. It is a bill that over turns increased penalties beyond what measure A allowed in Butte Co. After sneaking measure A through the County Supervisors decided to expand the limits on growing further. This will do nothing to stop measure A but will stop the altercations made by the Supervisors. It doesn't keep them from trying again however. We really need to elect a better group to represent us.! Three positions are also opening up for election or re-election. I can only hope we have a positive change !

Not to derail the thread, but have you guys heard of or know of growers being robbed, often? Like is it a common occurance?

It's something my partner and I have been debating fierlly about.

It happened to me in 2012. I think it was a neighbor kid who organized it, because it was multiple people who came into the house. I could hear them, even though they were whispering to each other. It's why we have even more security cameras, a security system and I have a smartphone I keep on my person at all times when I am alone.

My home invasion was one of the reasons why our county supervisors curbed personal cultivation so hard. It's an attractive nuisance.

So.... what's going on in cali with the legal cultivation ban? As a small closet grower with a family and literally zero exp with politics I just want to know how things are shaping up?

The way things are shaping up is like this--the majority of the state is banning almost all cultivation, including personal. Anything resembling commercial is being fully banned as well in most areas, the smarter communities like Adelanto and Desert Hot Springs see the boon this will provide them and they're taking advantage of it.

So basically everyone who had a problem with Prop 215 is now getting to put the kibosh on it.

Oh, and for the people who insist that we patients have a constitutional right to grow--show me where, please. I have combed through every fucking word of 215 and all the H&S, vehicle, civil and criminal codes so affected, and there is not a single word that actually guarantees us anything except a medical use defense (in court). That's IT. What a fucking clusterfuck!
