I'm finding that with the h&g food it is hot so I would say run it no higher then 250ppm the first week with babys. I backed it down to 320 now I will see how they do. Water temp is 72 at this time it will help with the roots. When they go in to the MPB I will drop the temp down to 68 or 69. When I get the plumbing done I will put up some photos.

looking good bro, I love the PVC. Im really interested in seeing this one play out

have you thought more about the cages, because you have to keep the plants back level with the buckets due to space, I say just lay a 4x8 sheet of concrete reinforcer laying on its side right infron of the net pots resting on the bucket lids, that way you can pull branches through as it grtows into a 4ft tall x8ft wide wall of bud. you could probably use PVC to frame it, but def use the 6in squares so you are able to reach through it to pull branches out for training. you will also need to tie most brances to the cage so they dont grow into the lights

make sure you dont have any leaks too because once those plants get it there you wont be able to get behind the tubs to fix anything

I think I have the same valves if your referring to the half inch shuts offs for bottom feed.

Do you have clamps on either ends of your valves?

Did you notice a lot of difference in water pressure entering each unit running without the valves... I thought the main point of the 1/2 shut off valves was to maintain exact pressure going to each bucket feed.

also would like to know whats in your buckets besides the hydroton.

Its a sick setup for sure though... would be cool to see long walls of green.

Looking forward to more updates

I dont think top feed in hydrton is a problem, it doesnt get water logged and cut off oxygen like rockwool and coco, otherwise krusty buckets wouldnt have been a big hit.

Nope, I don't think its a problem but when I did Hydroton mpb's, i didn't top feed either. Coco is just to wet and wicks too much for top feed. It topfeeds itself like a sponge..

Just to add I think top feed is great but MPB's are evolving into coco and a few adjustments have to be made for it to work. Lots of bucket holes up the sides and bottom and not top feed. :)

I can't wait to see where we are a year from now with this technology, hahahah :)

Yea i agree, the coco stays moist with or without the top feed once some roots get into the water

If I use coco again, which I might because its really easy to veg in unlike stones that need water almost constantly, I will put the dripper right in the coco and water once a day for 5mins, this way the roots will only grow out the bottom of the coco and into the water because the stone on the outside of the netpots arent getting wet so the roots wont grow out into them only down into the bubbly love bath

I think adding the drippers on the sides like I was, kept the coco moist enough for the roots not to look for water

so I figure if you add the drippers right in the pot , the water flows down the pot and out the bottom and the roots will follow, no roots will grow out the sides, after a week you could cut the dripper all together and only have to worry about the roots in the tubs

I think this way would get the roots in the buckets in a couple days like your getting, instead of the roots growing out the sides and taking their sweet ass time

I can wick an 18" wide pot of coco with 1 dripline without causing any excessive waterlogging, are you guys 100% sure its not those dam coco pots that are causing you problems and getting rootbound/waterlogged? just seems like a 3.5 gallon bucket or netpot with some rooting cloth/felt would be better. Im surprised pythium can even survive in coco.

Shit ive harvested outdoor plants grown in soggy mud for 4+ months.

Its hard to say, I think its more about steering clear of things that could cause a problem, keeping things from getting waterlogged. pythium actually has a very hard time lving in coco, but I think it spreads to the water

what size AC is it? are you burning CO2 in the room? are you venting your AC heat somehow?
