There needs to be early adopters of any product or technology to help fund the creators and companies that put the product on the shelf.

What Gavita has done is strike the right partnerships and their success leads to the success of Luxim, who we're ultimately waiting on for revision 2, supposedly in the works already.

What's apparant at the local grow shop is that in a side by side test of 600w MH vs LEP is that the LEP plants kick ass on all fronts. Girth, nodes, color all seem to be up a notch.

Merry Xmas fellas! Just curious... Does the double ended 1kW Gavita Pro require any type of air cooling? I don't run any dedicated AC in my grow room, so I have to use air cooling on my hoods... I've read through Gavita's website, but it's not clear on how much heat this Pro unit puts out. I guess I'm confused on how a double ended 1kW bulb doesn't put out the same amount of heat as my 1kW Hortilux Super HPS. And if there's heat, how do you attach a 6" duct to the Pro hood? :wondering

Oh it puts out heat all the same, watts are watts. I'm just passively cooling the tents with the 70*F ambient air in the house. Highest the temperature probe in the tent has read is 86*F and averages 80*F. Leaf surface is 76-80*F, currently 30" from the bulb.

So if you have an air cooled 1kw just take the glass out and turn the fan off to see if your room can handle it before buying a Gavita DE 1kw. Dial things in and the upgrade will be a pie of the easy variety.

Thx for the confirmation bud... My room can't handle the 2200W I'm running w/o air cooling. Maybe Santa will seal my room and drop off a minisplit plus a CO2 burner early for Christmas 2012 though... :thinking

Happy Christmas one and all!

The gavita 600 run pretty cool, was very surprised by there low amounts of heat and the lep I would go so far to say its runs cool to the touch. The light spread mans no hotspots using the gavita 600.

Herb, stellar job. Crazy amount of ripening buds there, looks good enough to eat. I can confirm the buds on the edge of the tent are rock solid, dripping with thc.

So day 59

All feed cut down to just 1.2 ec and budxl for a few days then plain water till chop.

This time my ring flash was out of battery so no nice macros today.

I have noticed a head on the SD DN* starting to bleach from the proximity of the Pro 600. I dam hate tent growing for this height problem.

Thanks guys.

Sd grower. Yeah gavita make all kinds of bulbs for most ballasts. But these bulbs are the 400v versions which require the use of gavitas pro el ballasts. They are also available as a remote ballast so you can use your existing hood. But at the moment the 1000w 400v is a double ended lamp and as such requires is own shade. It is dim able down to 600 and upto near 1200w I believe. Biggest amount of photon output bar the sun pretty much.

But they have a single ended version of the 400v 1000w coming out very soon.
