Definitely true, I usually set mine at like 365 and start puffing before it's all the way hot and get all those nice tastes, then slowly raise it after every puffle.

New bags are different and improved from the first batch I ordered in '21.
The old 1oz is about 1" wider than the new 1oz but I'm comparing the black to a strain bag.
Zippers are down deeper in the bags making room for several heat seals instead of one.
These also feel like soft velvet, not plastic. Insides are still slick though.
The Cannamuseum bags are really cool and have the zipper down the side and not the top
I got bags with graphics so I could easily see what's in there separating top prime colas from all other bud and large 1/4lb bags for trim and popcorn

I am now 100% sold on Grove bags.

I just opened mine from the harvest a few weeks ago. had them both heat sealed. i opened one of the 1lb Grove bags that i put about 0.8lbs in.

I am trying hard to remember the last time i had weed from anywhere that smelled this strong!! (strain: black domina)
Everyone i've given samples to told me they can't even have one bud on them without everyone knowing.

I would like to contribute this to the Grove Bags claim of an increased terpene profile using their bags (their claim is backed with data). Maybe from difference of not burping the terpenes are more "locked in" in the Grove bag?

the proof is in the pudding, and this fucking pudding is super stinky, and just delicious.

if anyone is on the fence about Grove bags, just get them.

I remember hearing from one of the old school humbolt growers on youtube that the types of terpenes make a difference too, and that there were mono terps and sonething else. Basically what he was saying is that some terps will evaporate on the first puff. The heat being drawn through just takes it all in one hoot. Compared to other terps that will stick around and give a nice flavor right to the end.

This kinda matches with my own personal experience.

Do you have any insight on the mono terps vs whatever or what terps are more likely than others to produce a lasting flavor in the bud?

The terpenes are "essential oils" used in "Aromatherapy" in some health spas & gyms as to Mono vs Sesquiterpenes, diterpenes, triterpenes you'll have to "read" farther in : Comprehensive Analytical Chemistry by,E. Michael Thurman. As to types and what they do or perform in the plant,Cheers SS

Okay Moe, I now have a left handed moisture meter and I'm testing everything in sight, I seem to run around 20%......I've been testing my drying weed and it seems to be sitting at 20% as well in my drying tent....that's at 60% ish and 64f....

I feel they'll never get down to 12 % before jarring / bagging unless I shut off the humidifier that is keeping them in a 60% environment. If I do that they'll rapid dry as its only 40% in here now with a fast freeze coming that'll drop it even more.

Before I had this meter I'd just of jarred them and not be too concerned as my jars are leaky and my smoke usually dries out too much but with the bags being sealed I'm afraid of mold if I don't get the moisture right.

So I guess after all that the question is should I shut down the humidifier or keep it going and ride out the drying longer?

I wouldn’t shut it off, but maybe lower rh to 55.

Grab a handful and put it in a jar with one of those spare hygrometers you bought (just in case you needed them

Edit: your looking for 62%.... curing stops at 57% ive read

I got a 12 pack of those small hygro meters and they are a big help! SS
Its this new tool I'm using that has me off my drying happiness. I pulled 2 bags I'd filled and sealed to check their moisture both were at 20% which is too high according to the meter so I left the bags open overnight. I'll check this am where I'm at with them. I've a bunch of the hydro meters around here somewhere, probably sealed up in other bags. I'll get a few out and use them today.

Sorry just saw this.

Is this just instrumentation and the readings on the low end are off? What meter? I’ll look it up.

I would suggest you check their accuracy at least annually.

I had about 2 dozen that read 75% last year this year about 6 of them were not reading accurately at 75% this year

Its just a cheap amzon one called a RDINSCOS with 4 settings ...soft wood, hard wood, packing & building I use the soft wood setting....after leaving a plant out of the tent last night It now reads 12 - 13%....Bagging time....

I could not find details on the meter on Amazon, but I did find the manual in PDF.

Water meter

Pipecarver

In terms of specs, it is your typical chinese amazon product. There is no detail. For example, accuracy should not be linear on a device like this. It should be less accurate on the edges of it's capabilities. I cannot find info on that or a chart to guide me like you could on say a milwalkee tools version.

Also there are wood and paper groups that you have to set the meter too based on what you are measuring.

I have no idea if dried cannabis is close to cardboard or basswood on their calibration scales.

Your 20% and 12% might be right, or it might be off. 🤷‍♂️

Glad you got it figured out for this go, but going forward we might be able to calibrate this thing to give you reliable data if you want to jump thru some hoops. Your call, I'll help you if you decide you want to.

Thanks for your help Moe, its just another toy, when you wizz kids start talking tech stuff I zone out but ifs there's a tool I can use or a gadget I can play with I'm in.....

Its the bags more than the tool I'm nervous about. My last stuff dried too fast and I'm not worried about it in the bags. This stuff however Ive dried better...slower with good humidity and temps and I don't want to seal it up too moist....

SO with this fancy new tool $25. it has me over thinking ( lol me) it...lol

I left my Biscotti Skunk still on the stalk out last night in my 40% @ 64F basement and it dropped from 20% - 12-13% this am the stalk still gives me 17% but the buds are drier. I'll seal it up today with a hydrometer in it......

Packed this 1/4lb bag yesterday morning full of frosty leafy trim dried to a crisp and was very brittle and fragile.
Today the material is soft and a little spongy but not rehydrated. The bag is pretty much working like a jar with a large Boveda pack and for trim it's smelling dank as fuck. No hay or grass smell at all, just earthy skunk.

The moisture meter needs to be placed in the bud, not the stalk.

Ya I figure that I was just using that as an example of the reading differences......like I said I'm testing everything I'm running at about 20%....My wife won't let me get a good reading off her......she claims it hurts when I jab it in her......wimp.....lol.....my cats won't let me either.....

My meter came with two sets of prongs. Long & short. The long ones work better for me. I also use the soft wood setting. I have never had a bad cure using this meter and grove bags.
