they are purposely under powered for price. Likely reverse engineered from the cheap heat sink. Lol

The Vero's were much cheaper but haven't compared them recently. They are fairly close if I remember correctly.

No. Even the shen zen direct kingbrite has a thinner finned black sink than maiju that offeres 15 mm.

Every manufacturer saves their pennies differently.

I'm gonna say that depends on use... it will decline over time... I would say reasonably 5 yrs. But can probably stretch that to 10 understanding that you will be losing some of the light produced the longer it goes.

Does hlg put lenses on every diode.

With Lenses on diodes do last longer? Or do i need a study to prove this...lol

What kind of lenses are you talking about? Cree and Osram and probably others use silcone domes for lenses on their higher powered diodes.

I was looking to purchase an led. You could select if you wanted lenses. I thought it was on the hlg website like. Or. Years ago. That you could have them install lenses...im not familiar with leds so i cant give an answer on what kind.

Cree's they're the shit.... They look the part and are very promising for the future....like to see a 200watt version. Thought they were supposed to come out with one?

Just went on their site im not seeing anything about lenses..has ti be a different company..lol my memory isnt the greatest!

It was a extra charge like 80$ for them to put lenses on thr diodes. They claimed longer kife with them. Wether thats a fact remains unclear to me. Wouldnt they get hotter? HIDs the hotter they get they better they run?
They were dome shaped i remember that. They did kind of resemble silicone a little too..

It most likely was the nextgen site i seen these on. Nextgen just popped in my head and i looked and yeah im pretty sure thats the one....

DCBright - Extremely robust LED projectors for the harshest environments

High quality material is ideal for multiple applications including industrial, architectural and mining applications

You will see what looks like lenses not sure if they are. But that resembkes(lens wise) what im talking about.

The lenses i speak of claim a better light angle or more concentrated footprint.

Okay now I understand. Yeah those lenses will definitely concentrate the footprint but it would require you to mount it higher because of it but then again it depends on what diode you are concentrating. Not positive on how much extra heat they create but most of the the heat is transferring from the diode to the heatsink in the back.

So also there is a UL code for commercial agricultural lights that puts a minimum standard on the horticultural light industry and I believe one of those standards is having a cover over the diode with some kind of lens or cover. Perhaps that is why they were using it. Maybe they were playing towards that side of the industry.

New Safety Standard for Horticultural Lighting Equipment

The transition to indoor agriculture presents new challenges to those called upon to inspect, approve and sign off on specialized grow facilities. Learn about the new safety standards emerging for equipment used in these facilities.
www.ul.com

I suspect this is also why you see many DIY kits that are just about made.

Actually Kingbrite is now offering the 15 mm heatsink on some of the newer models .... its not across the whole product line though. They are also still selling some with 10 mm heatsinks. I was looking at them the other night, mainly to see what shipping is running now. Shipping costs have gone down some recently.

What humidity you led guys run your tents in flower?

OK - I'll jump in - I'm in Canada, grow tents are kept no higher than 50% RH and the house they are in is set for 50% RH with a real serious dehumidifier. I've never had to nor do I use a humidifier. My 5x5 has the new G8-C3 LED and my 3x3 the old blurple G8-450 vedge/flower + UFO red light. So, yah, I'm a G8 fan but I definitely scouted out the better LEDs on the market before deciding on the C3. It's a pretty awesome unit in every way - perfect for a 5x5 without CO2. I looked at the Diablo 650, HLG, Gavita, and more...the only item I didn't take into consideration was cost. Very happy with it - on my first run, finishing off vedge right now.

Do you have a link to your light? I'm tossing around some ideas right now since I added another tent to my collection recently.

Edit: I found it. Yes, it's not the cheapest light, that's for sure. I do like the lay-out and how well it would cover a 5 x 5 though
