It is not cheap, we have already been over this....
And prices:
Shooting powder 500g/54.95$
Moab 500g/40.25$
Grotek monsterbloom 500g/28.00$
Fox farm 3 part boosters 450g/25.95$
Koolbloom 450g/21.95$
Monopotassium phosphate 450g/2.05$
you know your shit, thats for sure. you have all the charts to back everything up and your gardens are immaculate.
but ill say this, it IS cheap. you might spend $10-20 (100gal res) per grow and it will pay for itself in the gains, i guarantee this. i swtiched from koolbloom and i noticed a big increase in yeild and bud size for sure.
i run it the 2nd and final 2 weeks of flower, it works. also run hammerhead.
it might not be as cheap as something youre buying, but its still pretty cheap overall and i have personally seen a big increase in my final yield.
Crop king sells it by the pound too......
are you guys boosting with just moab or do you mix it on top of your base line nutes?
I'm not trying to take anything away from you Squirrel, but in the long run for folks who don't mind going to there local hydro shop and aren't crushing a 60 light, $40 for 500 gallons of mix isn't bad. I use it the last two week, 50% base.
Moab blows your buds up but can also steal flavor. I just experianced this with MOAB. I pushed it pretty hard but I can honestly say it doesn`t taste as good as it did w/out moab. bigger n heavier, yes
Grotek, Fox Farm, Maxi, etc are all on the same hydro store shelf that moab is, and are 2-5 times cheaper........
BTW thank you again.
i didnt have this affect at all....actually the exact opposite. my buds are more flavorful than when i used koolbloom. i would say when you pushed it a little too hard is why your buds arent as flavorful. unless you used to go organic, then that would explain it. but i dont think it was the MOAB, i think it was your application. you NEED to lower your base nutes to at least 50%, or you will run into problems
like ive said before, you are a scientific grow master and extremely knowledgable.....but when you say 2-5 times cheaper, its not really much of a savings when youre only spending $10/grow. if i save even $100 on a grow, its not really doing anything for me.
i personally believe if you are doing a 40 light setup, you are probably experienced enough to mix your own nutes. but when you have even just 10 lights, you arent going to save more than $50/grow mixing your own bloom booster.
MOAB DOES work, thats a fact. there is a reason a ton of good growers use it. you dont have to know PPM charts and uptake ratios to be a good grower, just have to know the basics of the plants you are growing.
obviously with the knowledge you have, you can take it to the next level. but you dont need a doctorate in botany to grow good dank either
^i'd be willing to bet most don't venture that deep into the nutrient solution and its components.
the idea is, when you're pumpin in concentrated doses of PK you're going to want to throttle back the base as to not overload the plant. No real science w/ this decision, just pragmatism.
I run my normal nutrient solution at ~1100ppm. When I add the MOAB and HH, i'm at ~500, sometimes 400ppm and end up w/ 1000ppm after the additions.
Precision with ppm does have value. But that value is not so apparent in our application. If you're topping out at x-ppms of P, and i'm a shade lower...well that's not going amount to much in yield difference.
Just ease up on the base is all. Try not to push too hard because you will get burns, calyx burn in my case.
