I would leave it alone unless you were gonna clean up the bottom.....
I cleaned out everything I thought should go. Without more knowledge or further instruction. I was told clean everything except the big fan leaves from the lower 20% of the plant and anything that I was sure could not make the canopy. Even after that I have cut more off now that I understand more about the way things grow. Trust me I want dead weight gone but tried not to cut off something I might regret. Even fan leaves I stressed over which ones I should cut. Do I cut this one to provide light for this area or leave it to feed this area.

If you don't want to remove the leaves out could tuck them under the buds.

The area I am talking about it would be impossible to tuck them. 14" down a main branch is filling in but at that point side shoots have formed plugging up the center were the bud leaves not blocking this area the main branches cola would continue deeper. So much is lost in HPS lighting when it comes to showing what is there. That said here is probably the most beautiful picture I have taken in the garden.

I would go with what paw paw Zan said and leave it. @MIMedGrower doesn't defoliate and his shit stacks all the way to the bottom.

The reason that works is good airflow and space around the plant and keeping them to under 30" tall under the 600's.

I think if conditions are good you can get 2 feet of solid bud through the canopy with 600 watts and likely 3 feet with 1000.

So all plants are bent or topped for height control.

Lollipop is a technique to have a taller plant but still only the prime budding area branched up for tops. Easier to work under the canopy. I do not have enough height for that.

Thanks for stopping in to share the knowledge brotha.

Im really liking the SoG method with clones in a shotgun tote. You can get the light right over top of them and get an even canopy of colas. Ive watered my SoG experiment with zero runoff from the start and they look happy...

I have grown the 6 big ones and 16 2 footers and have not had much runoff at all. I have them all on the same schedule and one bath towel catches it all. I also have used minimal nutes to avoid build up :)

Beautiful pic, what strain is that? GP?

I see excellent growth down to about 18" max from top of canopy. After that its fluff, and usually not fully mature. I have tried it a few diff ways, and 12 to 18 inches with as many tops as poss in scrog is your goal... If you got de gavitas then they have way more penetration, so they may go a different route. But 600,400 hps dont really penetrate that much, esp iif your trying to get your 3x3 spread out of it... If you remove the little buds at bottom, the root system doesnt have to support it, thus being able to push more to the tops... The big fan are your solar cells, I keep them... After trying both ways, im for keeping them, ESP AFTER YOU FLIP TO FLOWER, AND WITH OUT A DOUBT I DONT REMOVE ANYTHING AFTER 2nd WEEK OF FLOWER... this is all just imo....

I made my last clean up yesterday as I watered. I knew I was pushing it with it almost 3 weeks into flower. I have filled 5 quart ziplocks with leaves from these plants. I guess its time to feed and watch.

Ok I am never happy. The room is too hot. Some leaves show a drying out look. I have a bucket of ProCo2 hanging but the room got to 88 and 65% rh. my ventilation is the best I can get it unless I ordered a bigger exhaust fan.

I have no windows . Is it possible to sit an window AC in the room? Or right outside the intake blowing in?

I will look elsewhere but figured I would post here first.

Thanks for putting up wife me

yes you can build a shaker box for the ac...

You would have to vent the back side somewhere. Many put them right through the wall and vent from the next space.

if your room is at 88 your canopy under the lights is prob in the 90's! Can you dim the lights any for the moment while you brainstorm..

If your vent fan is pushing instead of pulling you might be getting hot air blown back into your room from cracks in the ventilation.

Whats a shaker box?

I could vent easily into rest of basement.

On my to back them off to 450w
thats right you have no where to run a 6" vent to outside of the room
yes I could cut a 6" whole in the wall easy enough
