If your vent fan is pushing instead of pulling you might be getting hot air blown back into your room from cracks in the ventilation.
6" fan pulling thru a filter into lights 6" fan on other side pulling air from lights. another 6" fan exhausting the room.

I just left the door open and stuck a big fan up sucking the hot air out. turned lights down too

Whats a shaker box?

I could vent easily into rest of basement.

On my to back them off to 450w

yes I could cut a 6" whole in the wall easy enough

If you can vent to the rest of basement you need a way to collect the dripping condensation and will have to vent the hot air out and at least passively intake fresh air.

You can also control the temp and humidity of the outside the Grow room space and circulate the conditioned (and carbon filtered?) air through the Grow room and back.

This is using the space as a "lung" room.

I use the bedroom next to my flower room for this and to house my veg tent. The window a/c is in the veg/ lung room window and a 6" inline fan blows the air into the flower room.

Sounds like positive pressure issue unless your room is just too big for the fan to exchange the air. Do you have both of the 6" fans on the lights at the same speed?
Do you have a drawing or pic of the setup?

If you have a fan on both sides of your lights you are pushing air, unless the fan on the front side of lights is going much slower. I would put both fans on the back side of lights pulling air through them or ditch the one fan all together.

I can't get any windows open in the basement. Everything has a metal grate over it to keep the local addicts out.
I am not using my carbon filter at the moment. I have no idea why but smell has not been a factor. I figured no need to have the air restriction.

I tried not using the fan going into the lights and the temp climbed fast.

I think my biggest problem are the cheap fans. They each claim to move 440cfm but I doubt it highly. all 4 are 8" inline fans will reducers to fit my 6" duct work.

Tomorrow I am going to work on the duct work and try to take out at least one turn and might remove the fan from the front of the lights and add it to the exhaust side.

I may rewove the room intake fan as well and add it to the exhaust. There are 90 degree turns in the duct work outside of the room so I might add the fan after a turn. Maybe I will go buy a roll of slinky and ditch the ductwork outside of the room.

The shakebox looked like it could work if I had air to feed it.

Wish I had a better fan to try. I just need a way to get through this grow not forever

Where are my manners Thank you @incogneato and @EventHorizan
Lol, no need to thank me brotha.

If you have a fan pushing air like doc said, that could be your problem. I've seen a few people on here with that same problem. If you have leaks but are pulling air out of the room, you will just pull air in through those leaks. But if you're pushing air and there's leaks the hit air will escape back into the room thought the leaks.

ya we need a drawing. So you have an intake fan and a exhaust fan PLUS you have a fan in front of your hoods and another one after? Is that correct? Where do you input your air for your hoods? And where do you exhaust it to ? And where does your intake for your room come from and where does it exhaust too?

And no filter? Wow. idk how??? My shit had me Paranoid it was so loud! And I run high rh which reduces quality of carbon filter.. You should be needing that filter any sec! You better get it ready for the day you come home and the whole neighborhood smells like socal

Here is sketch. the small room only gets the passive air coming in and no venting out. with both room in flower i could remove the door between the rooms

Either you have two accounts, Ive answered this before, Im having dejavu, or this is the twilight zone...
A fan in front of your lights will blow hot air out onto your room unless its only going about half the speed as the fan behind the lights. Remove the fan pushing air through the lights and it should cool right off...

Deja vue yes we have been here before, I have tried it without the intake fan and the room was just as hot when I put a fan pulling. I think the fans are to cheap and overrated. there are $30-$35 fans

One 4 inch vortex fan will move more air than all three of those.
Less than 60 bucks, 6" vortex fan from walmart.

When you get one hook your fan to the chimney side and the lights to the fan pulling air out.

my fans are ones like this

This is a duct helper fan meant to push along already forced air farther when needed.

You need an inline fan sized for the room properly. 3x per minute cycling is recommended without a/c.

You did not include the height of the rooms.

And the invented light could likely passively vent into the bigger room and out with the exhaust. As long as the temp of the smaller room is kept reasonable to accomplish this.

As I have said I do this from my veg room that has a window a/c in summer.

Hello everyone, I have been reading a lot of the forum and got some help as well setting up my room and am thankful for this forum.

I am new to growing but bought someone Else's supplies. I then built an 8'x7' room insulated and wired it right and even brought in water. Walls are painted gloss white. I have 3-600watt Yield Lab HID with cool tubes and digital ballast. (I will never use the 3rd I'm sure). I have 2 Hydrofarm 4' 54watt T5 6500k bulbs. I have separate vent system for room and lights. My room vents thru 6" solid ducting into my chimney. My lights vent through the roof using the old furnace ducting. I have taken the 3 or the four 8" inline 400cfm fans and used reducers to go to 6". One will push thru my lights. One brings fresh air in to the room.I have the third pulling through a new carbon filter. These are inline duct fans. I looked the fans up and read they do not work with fan controllers so I hope to make them work without it. The room is in the basement with 2 walls being exterior.

I was given some beans the guy had left over 1 of this 1 of that. I know what all are but one of those that came up.

Right now I have three 2 1/2" - 3" seedlings, one 2", 1 that was tall and then that I tried bending some to strengthen but went to far and the stem looked as though it was starting to wither so I went for broke and pretended I was cloning. I cut it off above the damage and put clonex on it and put it back in some soil. I have one about an inch & a quarter that has a stout indica stem. and I have one runt I found with no roots when I gave up on 1 pot it now has 4 leafs and is 1/2" tall clonex and put back in dirt and it hasn't died but hasn't grown.

My growth is no where near it should be by watching @rmoltis first grow. I have an assortment or FoxFarms Fertilizers and such. I have not used them and was going to ask the community for help first.

Here is their feed schedule
I have everything in that list except the "Wholly Mackerel" & "Kelp me Kelp you"
Make sure you clean all the equipment you can with bleach water clean clean clean and scrub it up keep it clean.
I have read Ph 6.4-6.8. My water is more like 7.0ph but it only has 100ppm. They show ppm much higher on their schedule.

I had not thought to give nutes this early until read rmoltis thread.

Watching others pictures I would have expected to have more leaf by the time my seedlings got to 3" ? Is it the sativa dominant strains or unwanted stretching ?

They are under the 2 T5 grow bulbs now with about a 2" gap and have a fan blowing over them and temp is 72-76 degrees. Humidity from 40-70.
