Lol @ ugly people having beautiful childrenUgly people can have beautiful children for sure. But 2 purebred poodles can't make a labrador. Nowadays every pollen chucker with shit genetics is selling them for $10 or more a seed. Internet marketing at it's worst. But there are stable genetics
I get the feeling there are plenty of good seeds out there, but those people aren't selling. With prices of weed dropping as much as they are, who knows. Something good may pop on the seen at some point?Ugly people can have beautiful children for sure. But 2 purebred poodles can't make a labrador. Nowadays every pollen chucker with shit genetics is selling them for $10 or more a seed. Internet marketing at it's worst. But there are stable genetics
same with me bubba; not spraying anything here; your perhaps u r confused...To each his own. I'll stick to smoking buds that aren't sprayed with anything ever.
My guess is yes also; light; and perhaps even the spectrums are very much important. Seems like the tighter the inter noding; and the more density; the better the flower signaling; especially along the different spectrums of UVA>>B and IR parts. Having the full spectrums in there help tremendously; but the ratio's are key; and the intensity...You wrote this in the post, and I couldn't agree more
"Terpenes can be adjusted in the grow IMO; it's not just the cultivars itself; but agree genetics are certainly the biggest contributing factors."
I read an essay/study that goes way back I believe by DJ Short?. He measured the distance, and the strength of the light being used, and found different terp profiles from plants kept at different distances. With the exception of 1, or 2 strains I've had in my life, the terp profile was dramatically changed due to the light distance of flowering cannabis.
I'd imagine the same rules would apply to LED lighting, and intensity?
Yes; the acid (carbon backbone) and a hydroxyl combine to create an alkyl type unit. Sometimes there are other metal ions involved. I believe that's most of what's happening; via the carbon dioxide transpiration assimilation; in key chemistry positional bonds; the angle of the carbon chain is what's key here. where there is a weak link; and the ratio's favor each other...Terpenes are actually inside the trichome. If you understand that side the best info is coming out of usc and a few other schools. You can find lots of article's through google scholar. I would also suggest you Google a terpene wheel. It breaks down cause and affect. This wheel is straight out of multiple studies on the topic. As you look at the wheel and google strains you've tried and experienced you will find similarities. An example would be blue dream.
You are 100% about genetics being the cause outside the environmental factors which can be used to increase the numbers. New hybrids can have over ten types of terpenes whereas old school usuall only a couple.Where people start to argue the most is when we talk about the entourage affect. Which is essentially getting a myriad of terpenes mixed together which is why you can make scientific arguments about new hybrids being harder hitting. The biggest factor people seem unwilling to accept is the best for me is unlikely to be the best for you.
+1 for the hot chic pic...and the outdoor mastering thing too. If you're serious about that I would like to offer something....each region has specific, genetically different, strains of Mildew. You may find a strain/pheno with genetic resistance to PM, but if I take that strain and take it to a different region and growing climate, it may not have resistance to that local regions particular PM gene pool. Idk if you knew this or not, I'm just passing this on to someone showing scientific knowledge that may benefit us all should you succeed. The bad news is you actually have to let PM gain a foothold on your plants and in your garden to find out :)It's all in the lights bubba; (hormones) that and just a little bit of luck with the ratios; dialed environmental; it's such a wonderful balance. I used to look at weed like a damn pole vault; but now I see it as a target. Plain and simple. ∞ ie. darkness verses light
I'm going to put away the LEDS (in storage) and master outdoors this year.
Like I said earlier; pole vaulting can be sexy in and of itself. But shooting targets dead center one after another is what I want to be proficient at doing. Fuck the bullshit; the hubris; I want to challenge myself every time; and push it further. I want to see the spots where I am blind; and fix them. Not stay the same static grower.
I want to be my own worse critic. I will leave no stones unturned becoming a better grower.
There will be errors; but it's simply part of the learning process. People LEARN BY TRIAL AND ERRORS.
Then using empirical evidence to connect the dots.
An educated guess can be based on math such as probabilities. For example, a poker player who knows there is only a very low probability that anyone can beat their hand such that they feel free to raise their bet. Conjecture based on knowledge, information and experience.

BamYou guys got to understand when buying high priced strains you are buying the hype. Then you make your money back spreading the hype.Like how apples and bananas is still being sold for $1000-1500 when you can find it here for a c note. But as long as joe blow thinks it’s worth 1500 then everyone is happy
There is not a strain out there you won’t build tolerance to, not that I’ve found anyway and I’ve been through hundreds of hyped elites.
Best way to say itYou guys got to understand when buying high priced strains you are buying the hype. Then you make your money back spreading the hype.Like how apples and bananas is still being sold for $1000-1500 when you can find it here for a c note. But as long as joe blow thinks it’s worth 1500 then everyone is happy

I guess I was confused. I thought you were spraying terps on buds like the Oklahoma dispensaries. yuk.same with me bubba; not spraying anything here; your perhaps u r confused...except maybe a few amino acids during the flip of course; but everything is fed via the roots.
To each their own; I bet you say that on a lot.I don't work it that way... I collaborate.
Apple fritter was nothing special at all for me and others who I associate with that grew it. In fact prob 90% of so called elite clones I have grown were mostly just hype.Fritter?
I’m not sure I trust a man or woman who doesn’t like Apple fritter.
I don’t like Blue Dream and I never liked GG. Cookies N Chem goin in Michigan right now is special
2 years ago I saw the fritters selling for $2400Apple fritter was nothing special at all for me and others who I associate with that grew it. In fact prob 90% of so called elite clones I have grown were mostly just hype.
I am not completely sure that the elite cuts are in fact the real thing. I have run some elite cuts that were rather amazing. Not calling BS but shit happens.Apple fritter was nothing special at all for me and others who I associate with that grew it. In fact prob 90% of so called elite clones I have grown were mostly just hype.
I remember when i was teenager , i was absolutely fascinated by the genetics of weed, from the old school hippy scored landraces coming from the most far away places , brought to us by adventourous travellers, pirates in search of the magic, beaking the laws...makin it happen
But also excited to try the few new potent and resin coated hybrids......it was a game for me and my friends to know all of em....study all the magazines to learn about em, their story their effect....and every time me or a friend was popping one of those seeds was exactly what we were expecting, with few phenos that were reflecting the basic charateristics of the line...
Nowadays with the overcome of the meaningless social media, the legalizations in many parts of the world, im almost ashamed to be in this game, seriously.....when i see a catalog of seeds i get nausea, im disgusted by the hype, and yeah the high cost of seeds, the stupid names that dont mean nothing, people searching for the holy grail without leaving their chair in front of the computer ready to drop few thousands to keep the hype going....meeeeh....the whole cultivation thing has become a hype, everything is overpriced for really no reason other than greed...
Its true on the other side that if you have patience you can come across some beautiful hybrids but yeah im so disgusted when i see someone selling 500$ for 10 seeds with no picture or description of the strain...makes me thing about the Art market where a single tiny picture can go for millions of dollars just because some art crithics ( what they call instagram infuencer) said so....
No good news also from the watchtower when you realize that governments are smelling the cash cow, with the hemp derived THC cartridges that seems to be so cool....disposable vapes....plants derived terpenes etc etc....
I may sound like a hater, but i try to keep the positive attitude, and ignore the bad to connect with the good people, the cannabis lovers like you all.....i love this plant...not tryn either to throw shit on everyone whos tryn to make a honest bizness out of it, there is nothing wrong about it.....but just.......be honest....and if you sell seeds post a f*****g picture of the plant at least
happy growin to everyone and good luck!
This right here. I have tried numerous times to like different strains. Different growers, different cuts, different methods etc. I'm never going to like... oh offfhand.. Blue Dream or Apple Fritter. I've tried hard. I'd like to see what other folks that I trust are seeing there. Our Venn diagrams of "holy shit, this works for me!" just don't intersect there. That said, I've also learned not to to discount those strains going forward. Just like ugly people have beautiful children....
It seems it went from potency/quality of high and stability as the priority to bag appeal and catchy names as the priority.2 years ago I saw the fritters selling for $2400. I love the smell but the effect is not there.
But isn’t that the whole argument lol!2 years ago I saw the fritters selling for $2400. I love the smell but the effect is not there.
It’s a very personal thing imho. It really depends on how you brain is wired. If there are strains you are interested in trying for medical purposes I would suggest testing things out in the morning on a clear head. Just my opinion. The Real Sour is my go too smoke though some like heavier but it checks my boxes wellReal flier here but honest question. Anxious guy myself and I never really sought a strain to help with such… Just smoke a shit ton of the best I can. Any recommendations fellas?
