Nice you may want to get a reel and start casting, that 3 wt is lite would be a gas catching a fish on it...

I got a cheapo fly rod to practice on a while back. Never fly fished in my life and wont use a virgin antique to learn on. Always wanted to learn though. I hate living in the desert sometimes.

Man those bamboo flyrods can get pricey,i have a philipson pacemaker made in colorado that im having restored and the resto is like 600+,probably as much as its worth but it has sentimental value and i want to hang a fish on it again,lol.

Well, I almost popped my granddaughter with the dress and everything. She didn't have a convulsion and shake as though having a seizure like she did when my sister gave her the make-up kit, but she was pretty damn happy.

I'm tripping out, because when I was her age, sure, I liked pretty things, fair enough. But I didn't LOVE them like she does. I could get just as excited, moreso, about getting a Breyer horse model as getting a pretty dress when I was her age, Hot Wheels, too. God I loved my Hot Wheels.

When we got home I told her, "Come into my fashion closet!" and oh my God! Her reaction was priceless. "You have a fashion closet?" "Yes, I do! Wanna see it?" "YEESSSS!!!!"
Now she pretty much wants to live in my 'fashion closet'.

See, I set the closet up for taking pix of clothes that I'm selling on eBay. I'm using a dressmakers form and even if I'm only selling one piece I try to style it as an outfit (styling suggestions, you see), put jewelry and other accessories on it. I thought she might find it entertaining, but I didn't think she'd dig it as much as she does. It never occurred to me that the child would find something like that to be fun.

So... what do I have planned today? Fashion closet, dressing up the dressmaker form, make-up, checkin' out Charlemagne the rooster, and buying Mommy a birthday gift.

I love finding and using the POP button on kids. No lie, I love it.

Oh, and we're gonna make some chocolate chip cookies from scratch today, too.

huffing on a Haze that grew out front from a seed that must have been chucked out that musta popped and grew.
The plant survived several freezes and was all tall. 8 ft., whispy. Looked like hell but when I examined trikes under scope it was loaded.
Hated to waist so I cut and hung no trim. Dried slow in dark and cool . I just go out strip off leaves and twist one up from the somewhat whispy nugget.. Real flavorful and a go get er done effect...

The fenwick is 3 1/8 and I aint unwrapping the others to look.
A quick search on the fenwick, assuming it is a virgin like it apears to me, worth about 200. Not that it matters to me.

That fly rod could be worth a lot of $$$, you should hang it on the wall and keep it. If you do sell it thinking a collector would pay lots more than $200. The 3 1/8 it probably how much the rod weighs. Usually pre ww2 rods are 6wt. Way to slow action for me and could easily snap with big fish.
If you want to learn to get a starter rod and reel for around a hundred bucks. If you really like the sport you can up grade later.

The wheelbarrow shit is gonna do us in....and my back has been (knock on wood) doing too well lately to pick up the maul and risk it all..... so after many years of hauling everything in manual mode and splitting cords by hand...it's >high< time to enlist a bit of "help":cigar:

Dude, we had an industrial revolution a lil while back, so now we don't need to break our backs just for firewood. Funny how nobody bitches about modern technology when it replaces ass busting WORK!

have split tons of firewood with a splitter.
the best way is to do vertically. Set up splitter so ram goes up and down. buck up a bunch logs to desired lengths 16 inches is about best. Stack up logs on each side of splitter within easy reach. sitting on a 5 gallon bucket or log about that size. can easily roll logs over to base split, chuck over shoulder to pile.
the other way you got to lift log on splitter, hold, the pieces fall to ground, got to bend to pick up, will get in way.. must wrestle log around way more than the other way..
most prefer to struggle, try it this way, its fun for awhile.
Also the cottonwood is a bitch to split. Not the best firewood either but if you got it burn it. May be best to buck up logs let them season at least a year, eaiser to split and ill burn better.....

I don't mind the ass-bustin' work, tyy...but I'm setting up for the future to use wood as our primary heat source so it seems like the right time to make the purchase.

I hear ya on the cottonwood, CM. Fortunately the previous owner also left a nice pile of mixed woods....aspen...pine...cedar...oak.....along with a couple of stacks of "seasoned" cottonwood. It's all ready to burn...but you know how it is when you try to burn full rounds vs. burning split wood. Some of this stuff will barely fit in the stove even if it would burn...and the little stuff wants to roll out....on fire.....LOL. Ahh.....country livin'..... :)
