Looks up to code:speechless:
:eyepiece:
Indeed I was gonna say, how fire safe is that?
A fixture that will hold the light with a reflector is anywhere from 70-120 for what u need.
Sounds like u may have a ballast already but those these days are cheap as hell!
But if that light is meant for veg. Get some shop lights . They will do the job. Just won’t flower in that spectrum

When i moved the lights the timer went wack and ran lights all night long. I gave them a 6 hour nap, put them in 18/6 for one day then backed off to 14/10 again. Hope i didnt fuck myself too bad. I also dropped light down close to the seedlings so they can do better. It will light up the lower branches of bigger plants too.
I've done this a couple times, how long were they on? You should be good bro. The plants wont notice it if you caught it right away.

It has the ballast etc. The reflector is around here some where...as far as safety i turned it on yesterday and left it on for several hours in a metal building. Its good. I have the 48 inch florescents all over the walls of this metal shop. I plan on taking those down to build a grow room this summer for next winter. I probably have 8 to 10 with good ballasts. I will have to buy grow bulbs. I have a source.
I can basically make a ceiling covered in grow lights.

Its funny i never expected the reaction to my light. I have lived in rural oklahoma and missouri all my life. There are no codes, safety inspections, building permits etc? Even our mm law forbid required inspections, permits 12 plants not including males etc.
This light has been outdoors in the worst weather imaginable for the past god knows how long. My local electric company came out to change it to LED and offered it to me and threw in a new bulb and module for the top. Basically it cost $4.00 for the elbow. I can take down the shop lights and rewire them build my own room with my own materials... and no one will ever know or have to approve.
If i do have a fire it will be in a separate building from my home. A building with metal walls and concrete floor. So yea im a cheap skate. I dont mind paying for seeds but pay for lights when i already have some? Nope.
Surely im not the only one.

I was home yesterday so i got my light put together, changed door knobs and started working on an outdoor shed to convert it to a greenhouse. I put up a new brace rafter and started replacing perlins. Im debating whether to use polycarb roofing or just stretch clear visqueen that i already have...polycarb is very expensive and fragile. It ages quickly and becomes very brittle, so im not sure its going to last. The visqueen on the other hand may not shed the rain as well as i like. The roof is only about 1-12 pitch.

I’ve tried a lot of different tubes in my shoplights for veg, including led but find these work best at a couple inches.

Should i be trying to get more light to those lower branches? Im just letting them do their thing...until it warms up. Not sure if i will move the lebbies out or keep them in. I saw a few white hairs starting puberty i guess.

Those bottom branches make good clones if you want to give that a shot. Lots of different methods to read up on.
