Yo i just started a grow with ethos candy store, purple sunset, madarin skittlz, and zour watermelon cant wait. maybe ill throw some photos up. idk if i want yall to see my ghetto rig. LOOKS AMAZING!!!!!!!

What he's missed all along is he's comparing a new LED guy that has made mistakes all along in the grow to a very experienced grower who has his stuff down pat. And he expects the guy to be successful putting the Gavita's at 6 inches......... LOL

Sshz for what it is worth the 1700 E and 1650 E have some differences that are more that just subtle. The 1700 E will stretch the plant more than the 1650 E IMO. The 1700 E appears to have a higher PPFD, I could run the 1650 E a few inches closer. I was looking at things yesterday with lights on and I had the lights about 14 to 16 inches from the top of the canopy and I was starting to see some of the leaves up high starting to do the whole point down thing, while the lower leaves where praying. So I raised the lights, should be interesting to see if anything changes. I am at like day 16 of 12/12.

I experimented with the heights in the Orange Gasm grow........... varied between 14, 16, 18 and 20 inches. I understand that co2 would probably give me a few inches lower, but overall for me, 20 inches is the number. Even at 18 inches I saw some issues. I also have some highly reflective plastic on the walls, that is bouncing back even more photons so maybe that has had some impact too.

Stupid question here but why do you feel that CO2 is going to give you a few more inches of breathing room? I see CO2 as increasing photosynthesis is there something else I am not considering?

Because light burn and stress happens when the plants photosynthetic rates can no longer keep up to the amount of light supplied... co2 great improves photosynthetic rates so you can run more intensity and thus more energy is made by the plant for growth.

CO2 will enable you to run the room a few degrees hotter........... and I believe keep the LED's a bit closer. Or at least that's I was led to believe.

I'm actually not sure if you are kidding or not........ LOL

This again, is not a heat issue with the Gavita's, as they are very efficient is dispersing it. It's an overall light issue, where you can reach a saturation point and stress the plants out by providing too much light for them to utilize.

Ok... so im going to have light intensity issues then if the plants get within 18 inches of canopy..im just seeing how much more height i can gain by using the led as the gavita is hard up on the ceiling with ballast right now...
Light is at 30 cms .could the led b hung as close as 15cm to ceiling..like we have said before its all about the inches ..lol..

The reason I thought you may be kidding was we were in disagreement in another thread, as someone is convinced 6 inches is all you need, and it went on from there. I’d say you need 36 inches in veg and 20 inches in flowering, but there’s things you may be able to do to give you a few more inches......... one of them is dimming the light some.

Gavita has come out with a similar LED, but less powerful in the same frame. That’s the one I would be looking at for you, and it’s cheaper.

Off the wall out to left field idea... if its a smaller area put a screen over the lights... should reduce the intensity by about 10-20%.

Thats a thought but i reckon heat issues may arise within the fixture b capturing more heat..
We cant get gavita leds here atm.i can get one at the cost of 900 bucks freight...im looking at lumatek zeus to purchase..maybe i should just email them and ask about it instead of filling up sshz's thread..
Lumatek has an 465w but only covers 1.2 area...

Edit: dimming might b the solution towards the last half of grow like you said sshz...i could handle that..plus plants will b shorter grown under them..im starting to feel better..

Back to this.........this strain is 60/40 indica over sativa. I tend to top sativa’s and sativa leaners more often. This stayed pretty short in veg, I didn’t want to delay them any further.
