Just like my bluelab phpen will work? Like mix soil and clean water and pH test?

yes, you have all the tools required. take a soil sample, towards where the roots are, and do a slurry test. test the water ofcourse, distilled water close to pH 7.0....

you know the pH you'd been adjusting pH of water/nutrients, and you can also measure pH of run-off. all these measurements will give you a better picture of what's going on with that soil mix.

Boom there she goes.
Its only problems from here.
So with that being said,

I have started the next round of seeds. When they get well off into veg stage, will probably just end up tossing most of what i have im thinking. Once i have the next set of seeds atleast started off, i will have replacements for all these plants and then ill just chuck these as the problems come. its just getting tiring. "its not how much you water, its how often"

Okay, no. didnt work. Frustrated.

So beyond frustrated, this is the bullshit that makes me want to chuck everything in the garbage, infact, i was chucking this plant in the garbage

I went to go throw her away, because i am beyond done with seeing sad in the garden, im just fucking done with it. I take her out of the pot, and bam, look at these... healthy roots...

SO WHY THE FUCK DOES MY PLANT LOOK THE WAY IT DOES. WHAT THE FUCK.
im so frustrated. So. SO.. frustrated.

I even broke a branch off her tipping her over into the garbage can..... sigh....

are you calmer, now?

you're right, this was one BITCH. maybe she was diseased?

move on! you got other babies to tend to. get that first harvest of some decent quality, and you'll be happier. and something to build on.

Hahaha. Ugh man this just gets so frustrating. Just when you think you have it... Little bummed I ruined my new plants. I apparently overwatered both, now I know I'm going to have problems the rest of the girls life.

The big girl I have is just sitting there. I give her nutes and she turns more yellow.

I need to do a pH test bad on my soil I think, and of course I don't have calibration solution for my pH pen and it was reading distilled water at 9.0 yesterday. So it needs to be calibrated. The solution comes tomorrow and then I can do a soil test. I think it's just going to be an early night tonight, zip up the tent and forget about it till tomorrow lol. I coulda swore I had this watering thing down. The journey continues.

I still have not switched from fox farm, I was waiting for some plants to die. Hence why I was going to throw this one away, just to get on with the next try. But, do I throw her away, look at the roots ya know? Grrr.

So let down.

I know as soon as my plant gets overwatered it's just a down hill spiral. And every plant I have now has been overwatered. It's demotivating. I know I need to start over now or I'm just gunna keep having issues.

Do I just make the big jump to promix hp? I have a big bag, honestly scared to use it because of fungus gnats. I've heard they thrive in promix

s -l - o - w down. don't do anything rash.

okay, deep breaths. i restate the definition of insanity, expecting a different result doing the same thing.

the difficulty seems to stem from that FFOF mix. with those other 2 latest plants, they reacted the same way as this BITCH, right?

okay, i'm not familiar with FFOF but I have read that it might be 'hot'.

that's what you're trying to determine when slurry test, run-off test, and measuring its feed/watering. you haven't been measuring?

with the branch you broke, cuttings?!?

They were the last that got planted into FFOF, i have 3 transplants in Root Organics.

how's the one's in Root Organics?

WORD of ENCOURAGEMENT, stick at it, you'll figure it out, PERSIST! FRUSTRATION now, but later when you figured this out, you'll feel silly.

Not all plants are perfect! Sometimes we just have to deal with it and keep on keepin on! Your ahead of most of us new growers don’t stress it’s only a plant!
Happy growing you got it!

Wasnt that problem plant the one you let dry out too much and had fully wilted? They come back if wilted a short time but after that the roots start to burn and die. Then the leaves wont really recover.

So, as of right now, i have one little like 2 inch seedling, that is currently growing in roots organics. its the first plant switching up soils fully to roots organics, every plant here on out will be in roots organics, atleast as of right now. But every plant i currently have growing started out in FFOF, and 3 of them, i have transplanted from FFOF to Roots Organics. So i have 8 plants.
1 Autoflower. (FFOF)
6 Young Veg Photoperiods. (3 of them, started in FFOF, switched to Roots organics. 3 of them just in fox farm ocean forest.)
1 SEEDLING in Roots Organics
= 8 plants.
So thats the breakdown.

My first grow, i grew 4 plants they were all in roots organics. This is pushing me to switch soils also and go back to roots organics. Because i have already been successful.
Im currently TRANSITIONING to roots organics, so like as i have plants that die in fox farm, i will replace them with roots organics plants until all fox farm plants are gone. Which is part of the reasoning of planning on throwing away a plant yesterday, i ended up putting her back in the pot, all bent up and broken because the roots looked good, and shes somewhat recovered today, so shes doing okay. FFOF Is for sure hot, i know that because i get the hot nitrogen leaf curl on almost every young plant lol. Honestly, i kind of just let it go, i figured the plant would eat up the nutes.

No, i have never done any type of soil testing. Soil ph, none of that. Thats why im ready for this slurry test, my package with the 4.00 and 7.00 ph pen solutions comes today so i can calibrate my pen.

As for the cuttings, ehh to late now, i was pissed off last night i just ended up chucking it man. I dont think clear when i get into that mode. Lol, i definitely dont deny my anger issue. And damn these plants can realllyyyy spark it. I just want to be successful, its anger from determination and the want to be successful. Its frustrating me i just cant get to the finish line as easy as everyone else lol.

Haha i appreciate you mosh!! I know man, im going to get there. I wont give up, woke back up today and went right to the tent, theyre recovering, just another hit to their health... and it sucks. :( Just trying so damn hard and feel like im ... maybe slowly gettting there... but its taking forever... :(

Wasnt that problem plant the one you let dry out too much and had fully wilted? They come back if wilted a short time but after that the roots start to burn and die. Then the leaves wont really recover.

MiMed teaches me something new everyday lmao.

Yeah, well so Big girl what ive been calling her, my biggest plant, shes been overwatered, and then i let her wilt out alot, because i havent been able to time correctly when to water her. Im starting to get a cycle down though and shes drying out every 5 or so days now. Shes been through alot of issues, i cant really expect much i guess, i should be just happy shes still alive.

Shes just not doing much, im feeding her a SUPER LIGHT nute dosage, not really doing anything. I just want something positive in the garden. :(

They do look, a little bit better this morning, the one i was going to trash is sorta beat up, probably from hitting the bottom of the trash can. LOOOL. Ugh..
Unfortunately, my young potted plant, that i was doing so good on, got her first overwatering and shes still a little droopy but not as bad as last night.

I need to focus more also, i made a fucking dumb mistake of watering a 1 gallon pot with a half gallon of fucking water. And i probably watered to fast. I look back the next day at some of these things and i learn, and get pissed. Lol.

Considering this big girl isnt doing anything im really, really, really getting sick of dealing with her, would it be logical to throw her away and start over? im done dealing with about all of this tbh i really want to start from scratch, but i dont want to make dumb choices at the same time.

Slurry Slurry Slurry. Really surprised nobody else is saying the same.

  1. Gather some soil from the test area.
  2. Take the homogeneous sample and add equal parts of soil and distilled or deionized (DI) water in a 1:1 ratio. So, for 25 grams of soil you would add 25 mL of water.
  3. Stir the sample for 5 seconds.
  4. Let it sit for 15 minutes.
  5. Start stirring the sample again after 15 minutes, and take your measurement.

I bet your so high or low - that the current PH feeds are not enough to fix it. Yes with a pen, not drops. Just be hella careful.

I just use a old jam jar - fill with 2 oz of soil, 2 oz of water. Shake the living fuck out of it for a few minutes. Let it sit for a minute, and test.

soil ppms might be too high as well.

Okay, call me crazy but i chucked the two bigger plants, im done, soil ph issues or not, i cant handle looking at that, its a personal thing, i have new missions now.
Very more motivational looking garden now.

Ill probably end up chucking that little one right in the very front middle too, as i just overwatered her, and shes in FFOF, its only problems from here on out. Before chucking, i did look at the soil and as usual, Fox Farm Oceans Rocks, well, Became a rock. Just like Fox Farm Happy Rocks, and im sureFox Farm Light Rocks would all do the same thing. can pick up their nutrient line Fox Farm Grow Rocks, and fox farm Tiger Rocks.
okay, im done being a dick, Anyways....
To give you an idea of what i mean,

Its like the rocky mountains all over again.

I have this one that is somewhat healthy ill be focusing on as the new big girl. Ill be starting some new seeds today for the roots organics.

Ill be taking soil ph tests of my other plants phs today and start practicing that.
I like having more room.

Nah its relieving, not even stressing.
Its more stressful looking at the bullshit. If you notice, as i go, as i throw away plants, my newer plants continue to look better, and better, and better, eventually, as i climb the ladder, ill get to the top. just need to keep climbing.

If you notice i have a new seedling in there, thats in roots organics, thats the new try. The seedling is started in roots organics, and i even germinated it from start right there in the soil, no paper towel method, or cup of water. SO HOPEFULLY, its strong right from the get-go. Ill eventually transplant it to a 1 gallon plastic pot with roots organics in it. Ill be able to catch up to that big plant i just threw away quickly, im not to worried.

LIke i said, im going to still do soil tests on my other plants, even just for practice. But now, i have a new "Big girl" i have to focus on. shes looking a little bright like she may need food, but what i noticed, is she went through a stage of light color, and now shes starting to darken up again, maybe i hit her with a messed up PH water or something and she stopped receiving nutes. I think shes recovering though, ill post more in depth pictures soon.

Ah that good. I get super super sad about killing any plant. More so when you are doing it because it just not worth saving. Muh babies.

Looking great man, I have better success planting in dirt to, I think I finally hit my sweet spot for my spot. I’m always tweaking stuff to make things better and better, you got this bro!
