8/16 update

Well boys and girls, I moved the plants last night into their new home. It's actually the same cabinet. I laid it over on it's side, cut it down so that the new height would be appropriate for a "workbench", then I modified and reinstalled the doors so that they would open side-to-side. For those who might be thinking "wouldn't it have been easier to build a new one?".....yes it would have. But it wouldn't have been cheaper. Since I'm stuck in the ole budget crunch right now, it's easier to do more work than to spend more money, so that's what I did. The PP's are entering puberty, so those are the only plants featured in this update. As the others begin to show their sex, I'll add pictures of them as well. But right now, there's just not much to show. Without further ado:

Zoooooooooo what up brotha? I was certainly surprised to see sex so soon, myself. I'm really impressed with these so far man. Just a great overall strain, period. They have been vigorous, not overly fussy, they take heat good, as well as humidity. I'm simply impressed with them. GDS....what it do dirty?....lol. Thanks for the compliment on the cab, bro. It was a lot of work, but they needed it and I needed to eliminate the giant cabinet for security reasons. In a couple of weeks I'll get my bench grinder mounted on the new top, as well as a couple of other items and it will all fit right in. Those who grow will still question it as a grow space but the landlord, and most others will simply see it as a work cabinet......just the way I wanted it. As for the budporn, oooooh yeah!!!! It'll be coming soon. This new little point-and-shoot camera that the ole lady has is user-friendly enough for me to get decent macro's out of, so hopefully the budporn will look good this time around.

Just thought I'd throw you guys a new pic. Immediately prior to taking this shot, I cut one of the PP's. It was a male with fem. tendencies. I was really bummed too because structurally speaking, it was the very best looking plant in the cab. But for me, if it herms, I don't care how good it looks, I won't use it.

In all fairness, the herm could have been partly my fault. I took care to caulk everything I could in the rebuilding of this cab, but I could have very easily missed a pin hole somewhere. So I won't blame the genetics.

I also cut a Wonder Haze male as well. I was gonna line-breed those just to make some seeds, but I think the other plan I have up my sleeve is gonna be a much better project and as such, I think it would be best to focus on IT.

Anyhow.....here's the update shot showing the plants undergoing some minor LST:

8-21 Update

Well we now have an official O.Haze x Sk1 male. The O.Haze x Sk1's are by far the leggiest plants in the cabinet. No surprise there really. All of the plants are doing really well.

If you look closely, you can see a bit of Nitrogen Claw going on because of the Blood Meal I added previously. It is most prevalent on the O.Haze x Sk1's. Again, no real surprise. However, I DO think that this might be showing that the O.Haze is dominant in this cross because I believe if the Sk1 were dominant, the Nitrogen wouldn't be causing the clawing that it is. None of the other strains are showing the claw like these are.

As far as I'm concerned, the PP's are still stealing the show. Just great plants.

The Wonder Hazes are doing well too. They are staying really short. It seems as though this may pose a challenge for me. All the other strains are gonna undergo some serious LST tonight. The arrangement is gonna be somewhat tricky since I actually have more fems. than I expected. I had thought I'd have more males to cull, giving me more room under the light for the others.

Here-in lies another nuance of growing under floro's that I have just learned!!!......with a floro fixture, one has to strongly consider the footprint of the light. With HPS that I used before, if they were in the cabinet anywhere, they had all the light they wanted. But with this floro fixture, I have to make sure that I don't bend the plants to a point where they are outside of the fixture's footprint, or obviously, they won't get near enough light to grow well. That's alright though, "necessity is the mother of invention" as they say, so I'll just have to come up with a creative solution to this lil situation.

Anyhow, here are a few new shots taken tonight....

Yes Sir FF. They've been on 12/12 from seedling stage bro. I knew it would be far more difficult for me to control them in a cabinet if I let them veg much.

LMAO....sunshine....lol

Some of them have begun their training already. I like to start bending them slowly, then pull them further and further until I get them the way I want them.

Very very Nice PGW!!! The PP's are definitely taking off! Those fans are huge, the last time i saw fans like that were in a hydro system. Coco is really seeming alot like hydro here but just alot easier.

I have a question though?! Are the T5's really that cool, to allow the plant to touch the bulbs?! I was always too scared to allow mines to touch but once my T5 comes back from repair i'll definitely put it closer to the girls.

I bend mine over too. I use the bamboo stakes, secure then to the pots/container with the plastic zip ties and then secure the plants to the stakes with twist ties. Easy as hell, keeps the plants managable and really opens the plant up for light penetration.
I'll be tagging along. Looking good so far.
BTW-Love the saw blade. Shows the leaf size and is the correct instrument to use for cutting them timbers down when done, hehe

They're looking sweet PGW, i've got a pack of Sam's gear sitting in the fridge as well, but it's the O ThaiHaze x Sk, hopefully get round to growing them sometime this year, if i do i'll definately be following your advice of going 12/12 from the start to keep the height down as low as possible

Peace

Hey guys!! Thanks for the compliments on the plants, I really appreciate them.

GDS....what up ma man? The bulbs of the T5's are a little warm to let the plants touch them. These latest pics were taken right after lights-on. As soon as I got the pics taken, I bent the girls over some more, repositioned some of the tie-down strings, and basically just rearranged them. They now have about 3 inches between them and the bulbs. Personally, I think 3 inches is about right.

Zoo....thanks again homie! I'm just glad to be able to do them justice.

Concept...nice to see ya! It's pretty tight in there for indicas, let alone sativas like these lol. From the top of the container to the light, I have 28 inches MUAHAHAHAHA. But it's all good cuz I knew from the start that these were gonna end up being grown horizontally. Right now, they are right in the middle of their training. In another month they should be totally trained down to run horizontally....that's when this shit is gonna get really interesting....IMO.

resinryder....thanks for droppin in! I had thought about screening these in a typical SCRoG, but then I wouldn't be able to observe them as closely as I wanted. For instance, the amount of stretch would be difficult to take note of in a SCRoG. So I chose to just LST them to the shape I wanted each one. But I've definitely noticed that a good screen would accomplish nearly the same thing, with a lot less work....just my random thoughts. As for the saw blade....I thought that would be a nice size refernce since it says 7 1/4" right on it...lol.

Hazeseeker....thanks for coming by! A few rather obvious observations on the O.Haze lines so far....
#1. They stretch ALOT.
#2. They have a major sensitivity to Nitrogen. Mine prefer a very small dose on a regular basis to keep their color. I don't feed them till they begin to show a pale green in the tops.
#3. They sex way later than anything I've grown before. The male is the only one to show any sex at all, while everything else in the cabinet has declared sex a week ago or more.

Pretty obvious observations really, but thought I'd share what I'm personally seeing.....for whatever it's worth.

Nice, nice. If they only use 12-14 weeks, thats not bad at all. I was thinking more like 16+. Sounds like a nice plant, looking forward to seeing how they grow under those lights. Very good diary, lots of info and nice pics*

Thank you very much D&C!! I'm trying to do these genetics, and this log, right. I'm falling in love with these Phenom Phen's. Others in the cab are doing well also. I'll try to get some pics of this PP male and post them in here. He's not the best male ever seen, but I'm very happy with his structure so far. Plus.....he's almost ready to drop the magic dust!!! wooo hoooo.

Okie Dokie boys and girls, it looks like the show is finally getting interesting! The worst part of the stretch is finally coming to a close. Obviously these will continue to stretch some, as all sativa doms do, but it does appear to be slowing now as the pistil development is beginning to really come on. Another obvious point that goes along with that is that the O.Haze x Sk#1 is just now showing their very first pistils...smaaaaaaaaaallllllll pistils at that..lol. Otherwise, they seem to be as happy as I can expect them to be. Overall, I'm still very happy with all three of these strains, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them (so far).

Note: The O.Haze x Sk#1's haven't gotten much camera time because they just haven't done much as far as flowering goes up to this point. As they start throwing some more pistils, I'll start to let them show their stuff a little more.

Ok, I'll shut up already....here's the pics:

Damn those girls are banging PGW! Are you gonna take any cuttings from these girls or are you thinking of a reveg?

I like how you did them all in that bin 12/12 from seed so i have some seeds i just dropped into a bin of coco to give this a shot. I used to think 12/12 from seed would result in a higher number of males but your ratios seem about normal to me. Do you think that there a noticeable difference in female/male ratio by going 12/12 from seed?
