I'm loving this thread!

Rollin, I like ya already! Glad to see you can rock it w/o a water chiller. How many tons of HVAC you rockin in there? I am rocking 24k 8" Air Cooled hoods, ~200 CFM per 1k, and a 5 ton commercial AC unit...and my water temps were still getting into the mid and upper 70s. Fuck that, I'd rather have a chiller! That way I can drop the water temps the last week and really bring out color too! Glad its working for ya! All my dreams of NFT/RDWC without a water chiller have ended up as nightmares.

I hear ya. The absence of chillers, Co2 and nutrient supplements is a forced trial having given up most of my gear prior to moving. Started from scratch again, but already have stepping stones planned out to get me to grower's paradise.

Still on the fence but I think I'm gonna have to pull the trigger on the liquid chilled garden. Lights, reservoir coils, dehumidifiers and general A/C off a 2HP chiller. Drain to waste for the liquid chilled Co2.

I'd divide the space you see between the UCs. Veg lighting would be as seen now, but for bloom switch to AM/PM flips and have 2 3k setups pumpin' nug. That way there's only 3k of lights and some accessory heat to chill at any given time.

Thanks for dropping by. Hopefully she hangs in there and clears nightmare status!

BigGreen your shit looks legit! Best looking run of her I've seen.

Can't wait to get the whole UC fam killin' it here. We gotta plan a trip on a boat. Harvest festival aboard Royal Carribean's latest wonder on water - Oasis of the Seas.

I just put up a thread about hydro innovations products. Why only 2hp. Are you not chillin the lights?

Anything over 2 HP needs to actually be outside, ubersketch for my current situation.

Pretty sure the 2HP is plenty for what I've got in mind.

Another item I'm chin scratching about is the intellidose.

While it's cool and works, is it really needed for a UC grower? I can only imagine having to add something to the water a handful of times through an entire crop. Am I that lazy as to need automation to take care of it?

We'll see. Probably gets thrown up just for cool factor - something the next project has plenty of. :)

Flushing the UC system and changing the reservoir...can somebody tell me what this entails?

I keep going back and forth for an upcoming project.

Hard to justify WC on paper though, atleast I am.

Instead of the ChillKing 2hp, I keep going back to a Jandy Pool Chiller.

~4k for ~80k BTU's of cooling.

WC airhandlers and marine A/C's are $$ than traditional A/C.

Multiaqua has some decently priced airhandlers(DX line) though.

It almost makes more sense to skip IceBoxes and just use a water cooled air handler with bare or traditional air cooled lighting.

Hooking up a hose to the pipe that comes back in to the epicenter and letting it drain.

You are never going to get all of the water out of the tubs/pipes.

Once the levels are down low, I start running new water into the system at a slightly faster rate than what is coming out. I run that for a bit, then stop pumping the system out and refill.

Purgro.net Rollin I think this is what ur looking for.

For my set up we are talkin 12 hp chiller outside ice boxes air handler and all the other nick-nacks that Hydro innovations has. It would cost well over 70k.

Or I could keep my lights vented and run a 5 ton ac with the stealth air handler from igrowhydro.com that would run both rooms and I could have a 2hp chiller for all my resivors and uc modules.
I think I just answered all my own questions. Lol

It would save me over 30k

That's exactly why I'm on the fence. Traditional A/C remains as the cheapest option.

The pool chiller sounds dope for the money, might give that some thought for a larger op.

Lotsa chin scratchin'.

IF you have hella airflow through a separate room, you could install it inside.

If the 2hp isn't enough, you could use an Icebox or Heat Xtractor inline on your return line to remove ~some~ of the heat and reduce the load on the chiller.

so how much Hp do you need to run a 2.5 ton air handler, 3ton, 5ton? if i can run 4 uc systems and 2 5ton air handlers off a 2hp chiller im straight

That I do have and it works a charm with the 12k btu. The Vortex fans for the lights pull all of the heat from the A/C across the lights and into attic space.

Would dump the air directly outside off the chiller though.

I believe they need to be matched sets. Gets retarded expensive quick. Even if it works perfectly, traditional methods + electricity is still plenty cheaper.

It does need to match.

Plus this looks pretty funny sitting in your backyard...

Those would actually go nice with my new patio furniture, take a look.

i could pull that off i would have to build a fence and have my dogs chillin back there so no fuckin noisy neighbors get the idea they can come waltzin on my land. i got gunz bish:hunter:

I think this could easily be pulled off in a residential.

~6.5T of chilling power.
