Im gonna put the Dr Dirt Bubag hat on again for a minute.
I was looking for resources of info about the dry koolbloom today and found this video put out by
General Hydroponics about it. The stuff that he says in the video line up pretty well with the things I've heard Dr Bruce Bugbee talk about.
Cannabinoids and
terpenes are secondary metabolites. They aren't needed for a plant to grow perfectly big and healthy, but obviously their production in abundance is one of our primary goals. It's also known that growers can encourage and stimulate the production of secondary metabolites by shocking or stressing the plants in specific ways at specific times.
Interestingly GH claims that koolbloom stimulates the production of essential oils and aroma compounds, and in the video they even specifically say it does it through shock to the plants. I'm guessing by phosphate shock.
Interestingly in the video they also recommend using a clearing solution after using it instead of just plain water, which lines up with my musings over a hash joint in my video from last night.
Interesting shit. It's starting to look to me, like these nutrient companies might have had things right all along. Certainly not all of the magic bottles they try to sell are necessary, but im starting to better understand some of the science behind flower nutrition and its taking me back to the nutrient recommendations from the 80's and 90's full circle. Very cool. Anyway here is the Koolbloom promo video. Check it out.. kinda interesting.
