I will be utilizing a timer and soaker hoses, they will be set for daily drench. Also will be utilizing a brass siphon mixer for every fourth day, if they need more nutes I will adjust as I go .... be it strength of nutes or frequency.
The siphon mixer will be a 16:1 ratio, 16 gallons of water to 1 gallon of nutes or teas which ever I use. The feeding will be the tricky part in the beginning.
Thanks for the info geologic ...
Zoner to cool. Gotta read rest of post

Hey farmers,
Well had a few days of thunder boomers and heavy rain then sun but figured I would throw up some picks of my bale farm. Due to the rain I have had an issue with nutes due to the bales only hold so much then the rain kinda washes it out, so I watch the NOAA web site and feed accordingly. The girls have bounced back from the bug shellacking they took but its an ongoing issue for me with the bales thank god the birds have noticed and started gobbling up a whole lotta bugs.
O.K. On with the pics ...... My apologies for the over grown grass and such but that will be cleaned up tomorrow afternoon.

Awesome, never even considered growing with straw bales this way. What fertilizer do you use?

I see you've made a hole in each bale and filled it with soil. How big is each hole? Do the bales actually contribute anything in their own right to the plant..or are they just for root space and moisture retention?

Hey OttO,
The holes were for the 16 oz solo cups I transplanted from, originally put in some fresh EWC into the hole then filed around the gap with the potting mix. Feed the girls with organic teas and then poured the residual over the top of the bales around the stems.
Originally I used urea which has a 50-0-0 on the bales every other day in the beginning to get the straw bales to start decomposing, so it's like growing in fresh compost through out the grow. I will start making a flowering tea with seabird and bat guano, kelp meal and Molasses along with some alfalpha meal and feed then soon.
Hey thanks for popping in..... Oh and you can not over water straw bales .... Thats straw bales not hay or alfalfa.... Straw has a capillary action the straw tubes only hold so much the rest basically drains out.

If you want I could name one" MEDUSA " in your honor. Some of my girls in the Vally were from the farmers mix 2013 so I don't know the genetics.
Sure. What an honor. M
