Spider farmer used to be called Meizhi. Shenzhen Aurora Technologies makes Viparspectra and Spider Farmer lights.
Been doing a little research and discovered a few things. Spiderfarmer and the rest don't make anything. They buy from lots of different factories that make various lights for different companies. So different lights from different companies can be the exact same. One thing I noticed is Shenzhen Merry -Tec Technology - the company that actually builds Spider Farmer sf1000 advertises efficiency at 2.4 umol/J. and the life expectancy is 30,000hrs. But for some reason, by time they are advertised on Amazon, it's 2.5umol/J and life expectancy is 100,000 hrs.

The vendor I buy from on alibaba will slap your own company logo on all of the units and build them to your specifications if you order "X" amount of them. That's all the SF / mars / Meizhi op is doing. They don't own any factories. They're just a company with deep pockets who are really good at marketing and sales. A lot of companies do business that way. Hell, store brands at the grocery store are a great example. The great value branded items at wal mart aren't made by factories owned by wal mart even though it's their store brand. They contract it out to whatever food production factory meets their needs then the factory slaps their logo on it. I remember working at an auto parts counter explaining to people the napa gold filter was made by wix, but it was a hard concept for customers to digest because it was usually around $8-10 cheaper than the wix branded filter. Consumers were simply paying for the name on the box. Nothing more. I like to call this my alibaba / HLG example. Same parts made by the same people (samsung and meanwell). How much do you wanna pay for the name on the box? :)

So whats the life expectancy 100,000 or 30,000 hours?
Coin flip? I think that's about as reliable as those estimates tossed around :)

Right now those are just empty used car salesman style promises that are worth as much as a fart in the wind. Time will tell if these things actually achieve the lifespan any of these manufacturers claim. And not all qb's are created equal. Some use low end chop shop drivers, last generation chips, and thin heat sinks that are destined to prematurely burn up diodes / drivers. I wouldn't expect a long lifespan out of those lights. If the qb is equipped with meanwell / inventronics drivers, samsung / osram diodes, and a thick heat sink then that light's got the best odds for long term survival.

Right! My wife worked at a charcoal factory when she was younger. Charcoal!!! Even chatcoal gets a different label slapped on it. You think Kingsford is different and better than the yellow bag stuff. Nope! Same shit!

If they are all the same, why do some advertise 30000 hours and others with the same parts last 100000 hrs. This dummy thinks maybe someone is not telling the truth.

I am frickin agreeing with everyone. Your the dummy. That 100000 hours is the fucking Kingsford name. And the great value is the 30000. Someone is telling the truth and it probably isn't Kingsford. Do you understand yet? @growsince79

Or are they talking in different terms? One talking about hrs before a decline in photons produced and one talking about life expectancy?

And let's keep this shit civil.... thread maybe for dummies but no reason dummies can't be civil also
