Nice pick up RB! Good luck in your upcoming phenotype hunt! *edit* I used pheno on purpose because you will be searching for a keeper based on physical appearance in your garden, not based on its genetic properties the way a breeder chooses a good keeper.

Day 40 Update:

The girls are getting fat fast! Freshman 15 are already packed on, and they are really letting themselves go now! :D

Big thanks to Krasi for noticing that TECK raised the 10 picture per post limit (and to TECK, obviously)!

Minor N and Mg deficiencies are currently what I am trying to correct in the plants, but for the most part, they are quite happy!

-Meeks:cool:

cheers for that fun fact :)
I myself added a UVB lamp to this grow, and have sorted my buds, so i will be able to compare effect :)

i have 1 bud that is similar in size and maturity as one under the UVB lamp so i have a good basis for comparison i think, i also used the reflector ststed on the site to increase refectivity by 100% i myself didn't notice a downturn in health due to this UVB lamp, asside from my own burnt tips due to nutes, but overall health was dark geen and lush :) under macro shots i actually noticed the trichs that were getting the most UVB penetration actually stretched slightly, and looked as though they were dripping, a definite difference i would say, i didnt have my UVB lamp positioned so that it would cover evenly, i wanted a basis for comparison, and had it far enough away not to cause too much heat stress, it did however raise my tent temps 2-3 degrees.
I will used it again. and again. and then i will buy more and keep using them :) my samples have knocked me senseless, so i cant wait for the heavy stuff :)

edit: i have also grown this strain twice without the UVB so even batter basis ...

maybe the UVB made mine foxtail !!!??

I have read that UVB should only be in 30 minute bursts 3 times or so a day, and not on all the time for the best results.

Hmm. Very interesting, and if there is real testing behind that I would be on board with the concept. I can see how in theory short bursts of UV light would harm the plants just enough to trigger the extra trichome production as a defensive response, without causing enough damage to hinder growth much. Do you remember where you read that Cap?

I have read that in several places. Kind of the general rule with UVB. I hae never used it myself, but have always been very interested. Basically the trichome production is the plants sunscreen. If you use it all the time its not really good for the plants. Short bursts are best. Like you said, just enough to trigger the response, but not enough to cause damage. Like the difference between gettign a nice tan and burning your skin off. A little at a time.

Beautiful pics Meeks, they are gaining weight fast, full of trichs too, what caused the deficiencies?

The Gavita Plasma lamps have continuous UVB delivery, and they excell in vegetavive growth, and aside HPS they multiply trichs and give better and longer healthy leafs, less chance of mold and fungus, even generates more terpenes so the smell and taste improves.
Sunlight also bursts out continuous UVB;)

Doin the damn thang bro. Girls are looking mighty fine my friend. Going to have a lot of fine herb fa sho. Aint no stopping you now. Keep it lit my man

:DThanks Cheese! These girls are taking anything I throw at them right now, watering everyday now, and they are visibly putting on weight throughout each day! My WiFi kief stash is running low, gotta get these girls ready to smoke asap! Flush of the WU clone will begin sometime mid next week I think, and Da WiFi still have 3-4 weeks to go before chop!

Oh yea there more then happy dog.. Great grow & killer camara work.. There some chunk monsters 4sho..

Thanks a lot Goo! Yea these girls are pretty pampered, when I say they have a minor deficiency I truly mean minor! I sorted through about 5x as many pics as I uploaded, so I am glad you like the ones I chose! These girls are super chunky, and they are just getting started!

CHUNKY!!!

Haha, thanks Cap! Very cool, thanks for passing that info along! I like the analogy, seems very fitting!

Much appreciated Krasi! It sounds like I should maybe go back to my professors with some more detailed questions about this subject, huh? One thing to consider is that just because something happens in nature, does't always mean it is actually what is best for plant growth (hence greenhouses)!

The deficiencies were caused by a mistake almost 2 weeks ago. I switched from MultiZen to BudXL and because I was feeding MultiZen at the full recommended rate, I switched to BXL and used that at the full recommended rate for 1 feeding. . .it was an overdose and my WU-B clone showed signs very quickly. I flushed and have been bringing nutrient levels back up slowly ever since. Not ideal considering they were really ready to boost last week and they got a little too much and then not quite enough. . . but they still look happy and are putting on the weight this week for sure! I think Da WiFi is really going to be capable of incredible things when I get her 100% dialed!

True MEEKS, i was refering too the UVB not damaging the plants.

I will be trying to find out more detail on this subject from a crop physiology perspective, the next time I get a chance, hopefully next week sometime! I think that there would be obvious benefit to our industry if the rumors are true, and UVB does increase growth and Trichome production. Unfortunately for me, I just can't bring myself to subscribe to the theory until I hear from someone who really knows whats going on tells me how the UVB is helping at a molecular/cellular level. I really appreciate your/everyones interest in the subject, and I promise that as soon as I know more, The Farm will too!

Ooo eee that's Shit looks kill .I keep hopeing to see some white urkle buds in the bay clubs so I can try it out

Some great flavor on the WU for sure! I don't mess around with club weed unless I am traveling away from home, half the time they just change the name to be something popular if a strain isn't selling well. . . some crooks end up giving the whole business a bad rep in my book.

ive only seen 1 time and it wasnt a good representation of WE. best bet is to cop some beans and grow it out yourself.

I agree with BigCheese! Get yourself some beans and grow 'em out! Will be better almost guaranteed! and you will get a lot more than a 1/2 oz. for the same price!

Ok, quick update. . . . I don't like power outages. . . I don't like them one bit!!

I just about pulled my hair out when the power suddenly turned off in my whole neighborhood about an hour ago!

Called up PG&E and they said power might not be back for a few hours. . . . so I scrambled. . . lit about 40 small candles and carefully positioned them close, but not too close, to my plants, to maintain as much of the photoperiod as I possibly could (short of opening the big garage door and turning on some car headlights).

I know this sounds risky, and I want to be clear, I would never recommend this option for anyone else because of the risk involved. . . but I had no flashlights on hand, and I was afraid power would be out for a few hours right in the middle of my light cycle. . .

I spent the last half hour sitting in the grow room nervously watching every candle, ready to put out any fire that might start (better safe, than sorry), but to my surprise and joy, the power came back on after less than 40 minutes, and I quickly blew out all the candles before my fans really started a fire with all those candles!

Now, there is no need to state the obvious. . . I realize that 40 candles were not putting out anywhere close to the light intensity that my 1000w or even fluorescent lights usually put out, but my goal was only to maintain the lights on photoperiod, not to keep my plants growing like nothing was wrong.

The plants undoubtedly have suffered a huge amount of stress throughout this whole ordeal. . . and I am just hoping that things are not too negatively affected!

I was so happy to finally have found a dual-arc that didn't blow out every month (power outages are a new concern, this is not the first photoperiod problem though), and now this happens. . . . LAME!

O well, nothing more I can do about it now. I am curious how other farmers have dealt with power outages? I am sure I am not the first indoor grower to have lost power in the middle of the lights on period. . . what do you do in an event like this? Has anyone lost power for more than a day? How do you deal with that?

that blows donkey balls. power utages suck big time. they happen quite frequently around me in the summer. i know in la they have rolling brown outs where they just turn your shit off for awhile to conserve energy. when it would happen to me i would leave the light off for the remainder of the light cycle as to not get hermied out. if youre really stressed off this happening you can get a generator. can get a good 1 that will run your lights for 500 or go with a less powerful 1 to run 1 light for around 300. thats all i can really think of that would help
