The molasses is a bit mis-understood. There is a type of soil that is referred to as living soil. This special concoction has a ton of different things in it to encourage the establishment and growth of a special group of soil microbes. The molasses is actually for the benefit of the microbes and doesn't affect the plant directly. The soil is harder to grow and maintain than plants, so I would save it for a future grow... keep the 1st one simple. There ARE some different products, called PGRs (Plant Growth Regulators), which are sort of like plant hormones, but they are fairly advanced, can be dangerous, and can ruin your product. Another improvement for a possible future grow?
You have a ways to go before you should consider taking on these advance methods. It's not necessary to do any of those things to have a great grow. Seriously, all you need is a STRONG light (
#1), Good Growing medium, a decent sized container (5 gal bucket), and generic fertilizer. This will allow you to grow 10' plants indoors in 3 months if you have the room and the strong lighting (I recommend a 1000 Watt Metal Halide/HPS or an equivalent LED system, around 600 wall watts). You can grow buds and colas as long as your arm. Growing can be simple or it can be as complicated as you wish to make it. You can have excellent results for a minimal investment, if you plan on growing enough to cover your needs. If you are just growing it as a hobby and size isn't an issue, then the smaller LED systems might be better. Keep up the great work! Each grow will teach you a little more, and soon it will be 2nd nature!
