I like the " greasy " plant , some really are unique , somehow I've convinced myself that the greasy ones hold a more powerful aroma and flavor ,

I had a buddy grow out about a dozen female plants from reg seeds , the were all pretty consistent , except I could see , they were outdoors and I could see thru the bunch right to the greasy one , I pointed it out and told him to keep the clones off that one , when I approached the plant the feel was pure grease , he didn't get it ....he said to me yea it's sticky like everything else , I said no , it's greasy , it's unique , smell it , same terps and aroma as the others but more obvious , stronger .....he just didn't get it , he couldn't feel it , I guess after so many grows you can identify nuances that you find desirable though others might not see it....

I was so pissed at him , cuz he didn't save a cut , afterwards he was jumping around showing off the bag appeal , kept saying ....smell , it's just like mango candy , we went thru the ordeal again and he got it ....
Yea I know those dry dusty ones also , kind of sandy , some how I always get angry at them and pleased with others , it's an observation disease this hobby creates, starts as soon as the seed pops ,

yep, being able to identify traits like that is key to moving a line forward. some people get it, some people dont.

yea a few bxs, depending on the starting genetic diversity, and you should have a fairly close version in seed form,, especially if you do proper selections along the way.

Line breeding in this poly hybrid soup of genetics we currently have can have pretty crazy results, lot of crazy recessives can start coming out, and esp running small numbers especially at the f2 stage. From what Ive seen, f2s of most modern genetics of poly hybrids you can plant 200 seeds and have 200 wildly different plants. Definitely takes more work, but can really make something fun and unique.

I've been reading about this stuff for the past couple hours lol, funny you say that. Trying to figure out how to go about this and realizing that numbers really matter. Small numbers of parent stock will lead to inbreeding depression quickly... Hmm. Well, I'm going to do a bit more research. Possibly occasional Outbreeding from other stable varieties and the odd back cross here and there when the desirable traits show up. And I might need to get a few/lot more plants going next season lol.

Clarke's Marijuana Botany is really good for research if you haven't read it. I know you have like infinitely more experience than me, but I love that book! It was recommended by Cervantes and Chimera at the end of Chimera's breeding chapter.

I thumbed through it years and years ago, but to be honest I wasnt all that interested in breeding at the time and it kinda went over my head so I didnt really absorb much info from it. I'm gonna grab a copy of it and dig in. Thanks for the suggestion.

Hey there, I've been a busy boy this summer, not much time for anything indoors. It's been one of the hottest & nicest summers since I've been here. I ended up with some plants outdoors and in they're now in a makeshift green house. My outdoor experience is limited and I'm wondering about a bright full moon, expected here shortly. The plants will be at a critical time ( 3 weeks into flower approx ) and I screwed up a batch this year with a fkin indicator light on my dehu for 2-3 nights & ended up with a hermied bunch. The full moon is a lot brighter than the indicator light and it will be there bright in the sky for 3.4.5.6 nights. Would you cover them to prevent my nightmare or does the moon not effect them? Paranoid as usual so I'm in need of some your expertise in grass growing please.

Moonlight literally has a hole in its spectrum where the red that plants react to with phytochrome would be in sunlight or most artificial light. Hence, you're good. Nature figured that one out for you.

I'm sure I used to know this but yesterday was my 68th Bday and I feel things slipping away slowly now.

Honestly man I just looked at the graph, saw the dip, and thought "I've seen that number somewhere before" and it's from a course on coursera called what a plant knows. It's free. Anyway apparently around 620 turns it on (phytochrome) and 720 suppresses it for short day plants.

Awesome to hear. My plants are liking it for sure. My only hesitation with it in flower is that it's quite high in K using the B1 and B2, I'm sort of thinking of cutting the B1 with a little V1 to bring the K down a little for coco. But otherwise I'm gonna run with the recommendations online. Also going to bring this here stuff back into the mix. I know I know... bottles lol. But what can I say, Massive is probably the only bloom supplement I've used that works really really well. Triacontanol is amazing stuff.
