Notes from the chart

  • Amounts are mL per US gallon of RO water, from House & Garden's 8-week chart.
  • Cocos, Aqua Flakes and Hydro A and B share one row on the chart. Soil A and B (or Bio-1) has its own, stronger row.
  • In flower weeks 6 to 8, the chart says to use either Top Shooter or Shooting Powder, not both. Top Shooter is shown here.
  • Algen Extract and Nitrogen Boost are optional on the chart. Magic Green is a foliar spray (10 to 20 mL per gallon in veg week 2 and flower week 2) and isn't included in the reservoir amounts.
  • Finish with a 3 to 5 day flush.

  • Mixing a reservoir for about 1.8 EC: cal-mag and silica bring the water to about 220 PPM, and H&G A and B at 5.5 mL per gallon gets it to about 800.

  • Soaks starter cubes in House & Garden base alone at 400 PPM before going into beds.

Common questions

Is the House & Garden base amount for each part?

Yes. Always use equal amounts of A and B. The amount shown is for each part.

Do I need every House & Garden additive?

No. The A and B base carries the nutrition. Use the switch in the calculator to see the base alone. Roots Excelurator and Bud-XL are the additives members mention most.

Top Shooter or Shooting Powder?

The chart says to use one or the other in flower weeks 6 to 8, not both. Shooting Powder is 2.6 to 5.2 grams per gallon. Top Shooter is the liquid shown here.

Still not sure? Ask the growers.

Post your nutrients, how much you're feeding, your medium and a photo. Members who've run House & Garden will tell you what they'd change.
