The Gaia Green schedule THCFarmer member Shaded_One built and hundreds of members have run: amend or top dress in 4-week blocks, then just water. Enter your container size to get tablespoons.

How to read a feeding chart Schematic of a 12 week feed chart. Each week shows the label dose as a dashed outline, a solid start at 50 percent, and a gold work-up band to 75 percent. Veg weeks 1 to 4, flower 5 to 11, flush week 12. The full schedule

Tablespoons per gallon of growing medium, at full strength

Full strength pushes plants hard. Shaded recommends starting at about two-thirds of these amounts (the calculator starts at 65 percent) and going to full only if your plants can handle it.

Stage Length All Purpose 4-4-4 Power Bloom 2-8-4
Sprout No nutrients. Worm castings and the cotyledons feed the seedling. About 1 week
Early veg (after transplant to 1 gallon) Amend (mix into the new medium) 4 weeks 3
Late veg (if needed) Top dress 4 weeks 3
Early flower (1 week before flip, at transplant to 5 gallon) Amend (mix into the new medium) 1 1/2 1 1/2
Mid flower (week 3 or 4 of flower) Top dress 3/4 2 1/4
Late flower (longer, sativa-leaning plants only) Light top dress 2

pH 6.0 to 7.0. THCFarmer's soil range. In living soil, watch the plants more than the pH pen.

Notes from the chart

  • Amounts are tablespoons per gallon of growing medium (container size), not per gallon of water.
  • Amend means mixing into fresh medium at transplant. Top dress means scratching it into the surface, then watering in.
  • Shaded also dusts mycorrhizae on the root ball at every transplant, and every 2 weeks adds about 1 tablespoon of Epsom salt, 1 tablespoon of gypsum and 2 tablespoons of a rock dust blend.

What growers here actually run

From the THCFarmer archive

  • Top-dresses each 5-gallon outdoor bucket with 8 tablespoons of Gaia Green 4-4-4 and 14 of 2-8-4.

  • Up-potted veg plants into 2-gallon pots with Gaia All Purpose amended at half strength.

  • Skips liquid nutrients: before the flip, top-dresses Gaia Green and worm castings, then gives plain pH'd water to the end.

Common questions

Why are the amounts in tablespoons per gallon of soil?

Gaia Green is a dry fertilizer mixed into or scratched onto the medium, so the amount depends on container size, not on how much water you use. Enter your pot size and the calculator gives tablespoons.

Can I use Gaia Green in coco or hydro?

This method is built for soil and soilless mixes with an active root zone. Dry organic amendments need microbes to break them down, so they don't suit inert coco or hydro.

Do I need to pH my water with Gaia Green?

It's a common question here (see the thread below). Many organic growers water in the low-to-mid 6s and let the soil buffer, and watch the plants rather than the pen.

Still not sure? Ask the growers.

Post your nutrients, how much you're feeding, your medium and a photo. Members who've run Gaia Green will tell you what they'd change.
